We were lucky to catch up with Kayla Lawson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kayla, thanks for joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
The biggest risk I’ve ever taken was stepping into the world of offering psychic readings. At the time, it felt like a leap into the unknown — not because I doubted my abilities, but because I feared how others, especially my family and friends, would perceive me. Being “the psychic” carries connotations that can be misunderstood and I didn’t want to risk ridicule or rejection from the people closest to me.
And yet, I couldn’t ignore the pull. I had always been the person friends and family turned to for advice — the sounding board, the voice of reason, the one who could see beyond the surface. Offering readings felt like a natural extension of that, but it also required me to step into a role that made my inner world visible to everyone else. It was vulnerable, raw, and honestly, a little terrifying.
When I finally chose to take the risk, something unexpected happened. My sessions weren’t just about psychic insight; they began to naturally flow into coaching — helping clients uncover blocks, create action steps, and find the confidence to move forward. That realization is what pushed me toward becoming a certified coach. What started as a leap of faith in offering intuitive readings became the foundation for my current practice: guiding people through transformation, clarity, and self-discovery.
Looking back, taking that risk was one of the most pivotal choices I’ve made. It opened the door to the career I now love — where I blend intuition, practical strategy, and holistic healing to help people reconnect with themselves and thrive. It taught me that risks, while scary, often hold the seeds of our deepest purpose.

Kayla, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I often say that my journey into life coaching and healing work wasn’t something I stumbled into by accident — it was something I had been preparing for my entire life. From a young age, I was the person friends and family turned to when they needed guidance, a listening ear, or a new perspective. I’ve always carried a deep curiosity about life, people, and the unseen connections that shape our experiences. That curiosity, paired with my natural ability to sense and understand beyond the surface, led me first into psychic and intuitive readings.
Those early sessions became a turning point for me. I realized that while intuitive insight was valuable, what truly lit me up was helping people take that insight and transform it into action — creating change, confidence, and clarity in their lives. That realization is what pushed me to expand my training and step into coaching as a profession.
Today, I am a Certified Master Life Coach, Certified Modern Applied Psychologist, and a Reiki Master, with a wide range of additional certifications in mindset coaching, transformation coaching, spiritual coaching, yoga, meditation, energy healing, astrology, human design, and more. While the list of qualifications is long, what it really comes down to is this: I blend science, psychology, spirituality, and somatic practices to help people feel whole again.
Through Inner Integration Coaching, I guide individuals who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves. I help them move past self-doubt, release old patterns, and develop the tools they need to thrive — with clarity, calm, and confidence. My work is unique in that it doesn’t just focus on the mind or the spirit, but on the integration of all parts of the self: mental, emotional, physical, and energetic.
What sets me apart is the way I bridge the practical with the intuitive. Clients don’t just leave with inspiration — they leave with action steps, resources, and a renewed sense of empowerment. I see myself not as the one holding the answers, but as the one who helps people access their own inner wisdom.
I’m most proud of the transformations I’ve witnessed in my clients — seeing someone move from feeling stuck or hopeless to rediscovering their power and living in alignment with who they truly are. That’s why I do this work, and that’s what I want people to know about me and my brand: I guide people to recognize their power of choice, shift old patterns, and step into a growth mindset that brings clarity and calm, even in overwhelming times.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots I’ve made in my business was transitioning from offering primarily psychic sessions to focusing on coaching. In the beginning, my work revolved around intuitive readings, and while they were powerful, I found that the way clients engaged with them didn’t always align with how I wanted to support transformation. Many past clients would reach out with one or two quick questions by email or text, and I would find myself “tapping in” to their energy field on demand. While I was always glad to help, it began happening so frequently that it became unsustainable — and more importantly, it didn’t foster the kind of lasting growth I knew they were capable of.
I also noticed that some clients were coming back again and again for the same issues. While that’s common in this kind of work, I realized that I didn’t just want to tell people what is or will be. I wanted to give them the how to — concrete tools, strategies, and practices that would empower them to make real change in their lives. Too often, I’ve seen intuitive readers give vague or even disempowering advice that leaves people feeling like they have no choice or control. That has never been my style.
So, I pivoted. I stepped fully into life coaching, backed by certifications and training, so I could integrate both the intuitive and the practical. Now, instead of clients relying on me for answers, they leave with clarity, action steps, and the confidence to move forward. I still offer intuitive sessions for those who are drawn to them, but they are much more structured and intentional, with clear expectations set beforehand.
This pivot was pivotal (pun intended!) because it allowed me to build a business that reflects my values: empowerment, growth, and integration. It also gave me the freedom to serve my clients in a way that feels sustainable and deeply transformative — not just in the moment, but in the long run.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When I think of resilience, I think of the times I’ve had to juggle multiple roles — as a wife, a mom, and an entrepreneur running two businesses — while staying fully present and effective in each. It’s challenging, but what makes it possible is that I’ve developed strong self-talk, consistent self-care practices, and the tools I now teach others: grounding myself, finding calm amid the chaos, and making intentional choices about how I respond to challenges.
My resilience isn’t just about pushing through; it’s about showing up for myself and for life in a way that’s sustainable, empowered, and intentional. Those practices have allowed me to navigate difficult seasons with self-love, balance, and grace, proving that resilience is a skill I’ve cultivated and continue to strengthen every day.
