We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kayla Joseph. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kayla below.
Alright, Kayla thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?
The best thing that I have done to show a customer my appreciation, was when a friend of mine booked me for a wedding cake for her brothers wedding. This was my first wedding cake and I knew that things were tight financially for the family so I decided to take the ideas that I was given and gift them a wedding cake and matching cupcakes.
When my friend found out she was moved to tears and asked if I was sure, to which I responded with absolutely! I knew that being a blessing to someone else would in turn see me and my business blessed and that is just what happened! Once the order was picked up and the wedding was over, I received a blessing from the family that I truly wasn’t expecting. Not only did I receive that blessing but the reviews that followed warmed my heart in a way that made me know that this is what I am supposed to be doing— bringing healing and love to the world through my baked goods!
Kayla , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Brandy but I go by my middle name Kayla or B. Kay! I am 33 years old and the owner of B. Kay’s Kupcakes & Sweets and PlatedxKay! I was born and raised in Toronto, ON and it was there that my love for sweet treats and baking was born!
B. Kay’s Kupcakes & Sweets provides cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies etc that are made from scratch with love and I believe that is what sets me apart from my competition. Where my business is concerned, I am most proud of the fact that no matter the stumbling blocks that come my way, I persevere. I am also most proud of the way I have grown as a business owner and baker over the years I have been in business.
The main things I want my potential clients to know is that I absolutely love what I do and I love making my clients happy!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients has been hands down word of mouth. I have received emails from potential new clients saying that they heard from a friend of a friend that I could provide what they needed and those clients most definitely have been some of the best clients I have worked with!
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
The way I keep in touch with my clients is by personally reaching out to my loyal clients first, before I post a sale I am having, especially if it’s a sale with limited quantities. I also try to foster brand loyalty by offering small discounts to return customers.
