Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kayla Horne. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Kayla thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents did so many things right, and the impact of their choices still shapes every part of my life and career. They had me young, and instead of letting that hold them back, they rose to the challenge together. I watched them work their way up into rewarding careers while still hustling on the side, building a life through grit, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment. That work ethic became my first lesson in what resilience truly looks like.
Both of my parents have carried significant trauma, chronic illness, and loss, yet they still showed up, for their family, for their goals, and for themselves. My mother has pushed through health challenges with a strength that feels superhuman, and my father has continued to build and love despite deep losses. Growing up with parents who lived through hardship but didn’t let it define them taught me that strength isn’t about having an easy path; it’s about choosing to keep going.
Everything I am, I owe to them. My ambition, my compassion, my ability to grind without losing my softness—they planted all of that in me. They taught me how to be disciplined but also kind, how to handle pressure but also pour into loved ones. Their example is why I’m able to do the work I do today, balancing service, passion, and perseverance.
And they are my biggest why. Every morning when I get up and choose to push for success: whether in my career, my business, or my personal growth, it’s because I want them to see that their sacrifices, their pain, and their love created something powerful. I want to make them proud. I want to build the kind of life that reflects everything they poured into me.
One story that stays with me is watching my mom push through her hardest days with her chronic pain, working up the corporate ladder and her ability to make sure the family was still cared for, or seeing my dad continue to work and love despite everything he had already lost. Those moments shaped me more than any words ever could. They taught me that I come from strength, and that I can carry that strength into every space I enter.
Because of them, I don’t quit. I don’t give up. I move with purpose. Their impact isn’t just a part of my story; it’s the fire behind everything I do.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Kayla Horne, an Afrolatina, owner of FloFusion Wellness: a mobile assisted stretching and holistic wellness brand created in honor of my grandmother, Florence “Flo,” who was my best friend and a tenacious, loving, fiercely resilient woman. She lost her battle to sarcoma cancer. Regardless, she poured into everyone around her, even on her hardest days. Naming my business after her wasn’t just symbolic—it was a commitment to carry forward her legacy of care, strength, and compassion.
My path into the wellness space came from a blend of personal experience, passion, and purpose. As a powerlifter, a clinical mental health counseling student, and someone who has seen firsthand what illness, mental illness, trauma, stress, and burnout can do to a person, I became deeply committed to helping people reconnect with their bodies and their wellbeing. My work is rooted in restoration; physically, mentally, and emotionally.
FloFusion Wellness provides mobile assisted stretching, cupping therapy, Graston scraping, lymphatic drainage, seasonal wellness packages, corporate recovery services, and holistic coaching. I bring these services directly to homes, businesses, gyms, and events across New Jersey, making recovery and self-care accessible for people who are constantly on the go.
The problem I solve is one many people don’t talk about:
People are overwhelmed, stressed, tight, and exhausted—often caring for others while neglecting themselves. My clients come to me because they’re in pain, overworked, and carrying more than they admit. I give them a space to slow down, breathe, release tension, restore mobility, and feel cared for without judgment or pressure.
What sets me apart is the heart behind what I do. My counseling background helps me create a safe, trauma informed, inclusive, and affirming space. My athletic experience allows me to understand the body in motion. And my grandmother’s legacy reminds me to treat every client with intention, compassion, and humanity. I am not just offering services—I am offering a moment of relief in someone’s very busy, very complex life.
One of the things I am most proud of is that this business has become more than a service. It is a movement toward holistic healing and honest community. My long-term vision is to grow FloFusion Wellness into a platform that highlights all 8 Dimensions of Wellness—emotional, physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, environmental, financial, and occupational—because true wellness is connected, multidimensional, and deeply personal.
I want to create an “Unburdened Circle”—a community where people no longer feel the need to hide their illnesses, struggles, or pain for fear of being a burden. So many people suffer in silence. I want to build a space where they feel safe to share, to breathe, and to be supported exactly as they are. A space where wellness feels accessible, inclusive, and real—not performative.
For anyone getting to know me or my brand, here’s what I want you to know:
FloFusion Wellness is built from love, loss, and legacy.
Everything I create is designed to help people feel better—physically, emotionally, and mentally.
I value authentic connection, compassionate care, and transformation over transactions.
My mission is to help people slow down, restore, and reconnect with themselves.
I value making luxury self-care affordable and accessible.
And this business is just the beginning—I am building a community, not just a service.
FloFusion Wellness is the embodiment of my grandmother’s resilience, my own healing journey, and my desire to build a world where people feel unburdened, supported, and well.

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
If I could go back, I would absolutely choose the same path—every part of it.
My journey into wellness, healing, and mental health didn’t start in adulthood; it started when I was 11 years old. Growing up with my own struggles—bipolar disorder, anxiety, and an eating disorder—forced me to understand pain, isolation, resilience, and self-restoration at a young age. Those experiences didn’t break me—they shaped me into someone who sees people deeply and shows up for them with empathy, patience, and understanding.
Caregiving has always been at the core of who I am. Even when I didn’t have the language for it, I knew I was meant to help people feel less alone. I knew I wanted to be the person I needed when I was younger—the one who could say, “Your mountains can move. Your story can change. You are not a burden.” That belief, rooted in faith the size of a mustard seed, has carried me through every stage of my personal and professional life.
I never imagined myself as a business owner—but I always knew I was meant to be in a helping profession. FloFusion Wellness became the bridge between my calling and my purpose. It let me merge mental health, physical restoration, community, and compassion in a way that feels authentic to my soul.
So if I could go back, I would choose this exact profession, this exact specialty, and honestly, this exact journey—struggles and all. Every hardship gave me depth. Every healing moment gave me clarity. And every step brought me closer to doing what I love: serving others, creating safe spaces, helping people feel seen, and reminding them that they are not alone.
I wouldn’t change a thing, because this work is not just my career—it’s my calling.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Outside of training and knowledge, the most helpful things for succeeding in my field have been mindset, community, intentionality, and the way I choose to show up every single day.
I’ve learned that success isn’t just about skill—it’s about who you are when no one is watching and the habits you build behind the scenes. For me, that looks like investing in myself mentally, physically, and spiritually.
I spend a lot of time reading, watching business and financial content, and surrounding myself with other solopreneurs who understand the grind, the challenges, and the highs and lows of building something on your own. Being in community with others who are chasing purpose has pushed me to grow in ways I couldn’t have on my own. Networking events, collaborations, and simply being around like-minded people have kept me inspired, accountable, and supported.
Another huge factor has been choosing to show up as the woman I want to become, not just the woman I am today. That means carrying myself with professionalism, confidence, and compassion. It means honoring my brand in the way I speak, the way I present myself, and the energy I bring into every room and every session.
Taking care of my physical body is also essential to my success. I work out 3–4 times a week, not just for aesthetics but because it strengthens my mental resilience, discipline, and emotional wellbeing. Movement keeps me grounded and sharp, and it allows me to serve my clients at the highest level.
Most importantly, I’m intentional. I meditate, set goals, review my mistakes, and learn from them. I’ve learned that self-reflection is a superpower in this industry—because the more self-aware you are, the more attuned you can be to the needs of others.
At the end of the day, it’s the combination of mindset, habits, community, and personal growth that has made the biggest difference—not just what I know, but how I live.
