We recently connected with Kayla Harris and have shared our conversation below.
Kayla, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I hope my legacy will be one of love and of passion/vision. I always hope that I’m known for the way I love people and also the way I use my God given talents of creativity. It’s truly what I believe I was put here on this earth to do. I think sometimes those things even get to overlap whenever I get to help others with their creative ideas or share what I’ve learned so far with other people. And those moments warm my heart.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Hey everybody! What’s up? My name is Kayla and I’m a multidisciplinary creative artist. The main mediums I create through are photo, video, and design. I’ve been creating professionally since 2017 and can’t imagine my life without it. I did get a degree in digital media and design however it was already well into my creative career.
I was raised in a very creative household so I always like to say I didn’t have a choice. I’d be remise if I didn’t mention. my family and my upbringing but fortunately I still feel like what I do specifically in the creative realm is unique to me and God given.
I’m passionate about all things creative and bridging the gap between faith and art. My area of focus is making art specifically for artists and churches. I’m drawn to emotion and cohesive creative elements.
Within the last year, I think I’ve been proud to see how adversity has shaped my creative journey. I’ve always been a true artsy creative finding inspiration in museums and music and aesthetics. And all those things are still sources of inspiration but over the last year, I’ve seen how clients, and life, and circumstances have shaped my need to create.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As I mentioned before I’ve seen adversity truly shape my creative journey over the last year but really looking back it’s been a story of resilience. I’ve gone through let down from job expectations, I’ve worked my dream job, I’ve gotten opportunity, I’ve been let go, I’ve been seen, I’ve been unseen, and I’ve had to quit due to circumstances. But through it all, all those things have called me back to doing what I’m here to do and that’s creating.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish reels existed sooner. I’ve found so many little hacks that just make workflow easier. When I was learning it was all about YouTube university which is still a great resource but sometimes it just takes that 1 minute of inspiration to change the game.
