We were lucky to catch up with Kayla Got The 411 recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kayla Got The 411, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
When I was growing up, I was never an academic scholar. I did the work but really shined in art classes, and writing classes. During my junior year of high school, we had a field trip to visit University colleges. I remember everyone so excited to attend a HBCU or University. The tour guides went over the courses, and none of them had anything to do with design. I remember on the ride back thinking I didn’t want to go there. It was a great school, I just knew it wasn’t a place for a person who had a goal of being a creative. Which at that time graphic design was my career goal. I did my research on a few design schools and started applying for scholarships right away.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a media personality who started my website www.kaylagotthe411.com in 2016 dedicated to women who love girl talk. I later turned my blog into a podcast with topics on celebrity news, hot topics, politics, relationships, and lifestyle in 2018. I am known for my comic-style commentary but also my realness on topics I have been through. I am relatable and will always give my honest real opinion if it others don’t agree. I started my official talk show on YouTube interview 2020 to expand my brand. I now interview amazing artists to give them a platform to reach bigger audience, and I I give the 411 on current events. Currently all my segments are ,Whats The 411 Segment ,Whats The Reaction Segment ,Whopping Wednesday , Whats Good Segment ,Whats Your Story Segment. My newest show Style Slayerr is a fashion recap show.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
The best way to support creatives is to understand that we all are humans with families and responsibilities. We put in the work so pay us for what we’re worth. Many platforms are thriving off the hard work of creatives. Daily a new dance is made, a new viral sound, a new trend. Not just pay us, don’t discriminate against us and pay us all equally. Brands want to use our platforms to promote their products but want to nickel and dime us. Support artists, and creatives by giving us fair opportunities to succeed as well. Join together as a force instead of stealing from creatives.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding thing for me is how I constantly out do myself when I come up with shows. I have stayed up hours editing shows. For example, my show called The Petty Bunch. I would watch the Brady Bunch as a kid in the 90s and wanted to do a show in the blue boxes. After editing, using tools to help me when I got stuck, I was able to accomplish it. That right there is rewarding to know I can’ do it myself. I have the skill set .
