Kayla, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you scale up? What were the strategies, tactics, meaningful moments, twists/turns, obstacles, mistakes along the way? We’d love to hear the backstory the illustrates how you grew your brand.
One key strategy that contributed significantly to the growth of my photography business was my dedication to building a strong online presence through active engagement on social media and consistent posting. Simultaneously, I recognized the value of in-person networking and made a conscious effort to attend events and carry both digital and physical business cards. As a photographer, one of the most meaningful aspects of this journey has been the overwhelming appreciation and support i’ve received from clients and peers after completing each project. While every step of my growth has been without challenges, each experience has served as a valuable learning opportunity.
Moreover, a pivotal factor in the continuous growth of my photography business has been my unwavering commitment to delivering consistent high quality work. The dedication to producing exceptional photography has earned the trust and loyalty of my clients.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My journey in photography began back in high school when I started taking candid shots of my friends during our lunch breaks. The initial spark ignited a passion that has continued to grow ever since. I think it’s amazing how a simple hobby can evolve into something greater, driven by genuine love for the art. As of right now, my portfolio primarily focuses on capturing the energy and excitement of concerts, the elegance of fashion and lifestyle scenes, and the intimate moments of portraits. These specializations have allowed me to refine my craft and connect with a diverse range of clients and creatives.
How did you build your audience on social media?
To build a strong online presence, consistency has been key. Maintaining a regular posting schedule and engaging with my supporters and peers has allowed me to foster a vibrant and supportive community around my work. This ongoing interaction has not only helped me connect with clients but has also enriched my journey as a photographer.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Another pivotal moment in my journey involved unlearning the habit of underselling myself to please others. Recognizing my worth as a photographer and valuing my work allowed me to build a more successful and sustainable business. It was a transformative step towards achieving my goals with confidence and integrity.
