Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kayla Dixon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Kayla, thanks for joining us today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
I love my clients. I have special relationship with them all. I remember allergies without looking at notes I give discounts for their birthdays. I do raffles and free services randomly to show my regulars they are appreciated. Sometimes I even give them free upgrades!! One of my favorite clients we click and talk so much we relate on so many levels. She had a miscarriage and I sent her a eddible arrangement. I love to do things for my clients and show them that I care even beyond my business
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I decided to go to esthetics school to learn more about the skin. My youngest son has Psoriasis’s and I wanted to be able to give him comfort. I was able to clear his skin up really well but then fell in love with waxing. I started at a HUGE chain and actually learned a lot then took what I learned and spinned it to my liking. I didn’t like being rushed to assist my clients I didn’t like not knowing my clients. So I eventually branched out and started my own and my clients followed even without advertising that I was leaving. It was a spur of the moment decision. I research and test all my products I buy before allowing my Clients to be serviced.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
I literally funded my business with my own money. I worked full time and waxed before work, after work, and on my off days to afford my own suite!!! I bought flyers passed them around town. Posted all on social media and all. I had to get myself out there
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Word of mouth! I give my clients flyers and offer them $10 discounts for referrals and it has been working!!! They love me and so they share my info to friends, family, and strangers.
