Kaydee, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When you’ve been a professional in an industry for long enough, you’ll experience an industry-wide U-Turn, an instance where the consensus completely flips upside down or where the “best practices” completely change. If you’ve experienced such a U-Turn over the course of your professional career, we’d love to hear about it.
I wish someone would have told me early on in my career that in real estate & finance, nothing ever stays the same for long. I landed in my career by accident. It was a happy accident, but it is ever changing & just when you think you have it figured out, you dont. When I first started in banking back in 2008 – My first day on the job, Bank of American took over Taylor Bean & Whittaker 203K loans. The phones rang from the time I walked in until the time I left and I didnt know that wasnt “normal”. It took years to work through that portfolio and it was excellent experience, but it goes to show you, that what is normal for one isnt for another. When the phones finally stopped ringing, Most people were relieved, but its all I ever knew & I was a little uneasy when they stopped. Since then, this market has thrown us many curve balls & things were really picking up for me when covid hit & I thought for sure it was over. Little did I know the next two years would be my best of my career so far & now that rates are higher than they have been in decades, I thought this would be a slow steady race & the market had very different plans. Everyone I know from seasoned professionals to newbies are trying to navigate the hardest times we have seen in years. This industry is like being on a roller coaster, just when you think the ride is getting smoother, you better hang on for one more loop. Every season brings something new & honestly, I would be bored in any other line of work. Its the game that keeps me on my toes. During the harder times, you find an amazing sense of community where professionals rally together & bring new ideas and fun into the marketplace. Where you can get the best deals and where millionaires are made. U-turns create opportunity. That is where you find the diamonds!
Kaydee, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Personally, I would limit myself and my beliefs. I just came from such a small and humble background. My beliefs were small. My goals were small and I didn’t think I would or could ever be like the industry professionals I admired followed and looked up too. When I left my first mortgage company to join another, I will never forget them telling me the President Club goals for this new company. My immediate thought was, oh wow. ill never make that. I had to stop the negative thoughts! Halfway through that first year, I didnt even try to make it, but when I looked at how well I had done, I remember thinking. You know what, you CAN do this and you will. You deserve it and lets show them what you can do! Its that mindset that keeps me going today. I had to change my mind. I have a moto now, “Remember who you are & what you came to do”. I have it written down everywhere. My mirrors at home. My white boards, my notebooks. It reminds me that thinking small was never the plan. That the moment I decided that I did belong at the table. I did deserve a chance & I WAS ever bit as smart capable and good enough if not better, my world changed. I read every book I could, I got better at craft, I found support that carried my same values & I am thriving in a world of uncertainty most days. I just had to change my mind and believe that I am going to make a difference. My faith is my power & every challenge presents an opportunity to learn and pivot.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Social Media & branding. We work with lots of real estate agents, insurance companies, title companies, our circle of friends and family. However today, its all about who you know and who knows you. My BIG goal this year is to blaze a trail. “Lenders”, in my opinion fall in two categories. Ones that are in the spotlight and ones that are in the shadows. I have always been more comfortable allowing others to take the stage. In my line of work realtors typically want to be the ones in the spotlight – its how they get their business & I was happy to be on the sidelines, until this year and I was forced to realize that I have done myself a disservice. There is space for everyone in social media. Everyone. I have a voice & information that can change someone’s life and its my purpose to share it. Its my duty to share it. Being part of American Dream TV has opened so many doors for me and my team. I am thrilled to be heading the right direction & hope to inspire others in my line of work to do the same.
