We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kaybree a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kaybree, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Honestly, it’s something that I’ve always wanted, even as a child. My family used to gather in my aunt’s backyard and I’d stand on this platform in front of everyone and just be myself. I was always outgoing as a kid and extremely fearless. All of my life, I’ve been surrounded by risk-takers so it was kind of natural for me.
My first memorable moment was performing at a showcase. I remember the really cute outfits and the bright lights on the stage. I always tuned many people out when I would get in front of them but this showcase, I could see everyone’s facial expressions and it gave me a sensational feeling. Seeing others light up at my work was an unforgettable feeling. I knew in that moment that performing was something I was meant to do for the rest of my life.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My mother put me in modeling and pageants at an extremely young age. I was usually always the youngest in the room, but was said to be the most mature and professional out of everyone. From there, I took on dance and somewhat of acting. Acting was just a minor fill in to pass the time. Music has always been essential and a key component in my life, as I come from a musically inclined family. It wasn’t until about 2019-20, that I had started to take it seriously.
Many people had dreams when they were younger and they just gave them up completely. I am super proud of how I have stayed committed. I have stayed committed to the process and the grind. I give 110% in every aspect. Expect the expected and different vibes from me. I am different and I can honestly say that and back it up!

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to learn that the people you think are for you and are rooting for you are… NOT! During this journey, I have watched many halfway support me but once someone else reaches the top before I do, I am not a factor anymore. There is nothing wrong with that because that is life and that is how this industry works. I had to learn that the biggest support will come from people you do not know, have never met, and will probably never meet.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
Nothing happens overnight. It costs to invest in your craft. 1 in a million people will blow up overnight. Don’t expect for me. If I do, then great. If I don’t, work with me. Push me. Be there for. And once I make it, still be there for me.
