Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kay Flowerz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kay , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Publishing my writings for the world to see was one of the biggest risks i’ve taken in my life thus far. It’s like sharing your baby to the world for the first time, it’s exciting but scary. You want to keep them safe and protected. I birthed my book 8 months into pregnancy with my first daughter, but majority of my book was written in my journals from my childhood, and teenage years. There were a roller coaster of emotions, thoughts, and obstacles I had to face, but I knew God gave me this gift of writing for a reason, and I had to share it with the world. Thankfully, I had my husband and coach to cheer me on and support me during the process of finally getting published.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a proud wife and girl mom. I’m originally from California, but currently reside in Ohio. I am an extroverted introvert. I love spending quality time with my family, socializing with others, and also taking time for self-care. I got into my craft by simply being drawn to pen and paper, and the desire to share what God has placed on the inside of me. What sets me apart from others is my ability to encourage and inspire others, and influence the energy of any room I walk into. What I want potential supporters to know about me is that I am simply a vessel of God’s love and light here to remind you that healing is possible and your purpose is greater than you could ever imagine.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Deciding to not give up on life was a huge milestone for me. I dealt with trauma, depression, and felt like my voice and life did not matter. Writing was an outlet for me. God is literally the reason why I am still here. My life flashed before my eyes as I was about to make the worst decision of my life, and God told me in that moment that He “has a purpose for my life, and someone in this world needed me.” This is why I do what I do.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
By liking, commenting, and sharing our work on social media. Helping spread the word about us, and giving credit to reposted work is very much appreciated. Also, attending our events and purchasing our work just gives us that extra push to keep going and helps us make a living out of what we are passionate about.
