We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Katya Leonovich. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Katya below.
Katya, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?
Real friends support me without being asked.
My family gave me birth and good education. The rest I did myself.
My father was a poet, he called me “alien”. He was writing me letters in three languages while I was living in Italy and then in US. It was inspiring.
I have rats as pets. Animal’s behavior, senses and playfulnesses — my big influence .

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I can call myself — “naturally born artist”. I travelled the world… Hight Fashion and Fine Arts — this what I do.
I separate Design and Art. Nowadays I see that Art becoming more Design everywhere to “match the couch”.
It’s wrong! Art for me — the flash, the blood, the grass smell…
For several years I was creating “the Universe of my imaginations “. Now — back to faces and bodies that should be “alive” on the canvas.
My mission? I would like to give parting power to conquer the world .

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Being a creator I am finding interesting things around me, I never bored. Even serving jury duty I was sketching people and then some of those sketches I included into my paintings.
I see things, not just look at.
To talk to people’s soles, not to talk about weather.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I think society should obliged commercial organizations to give artists some support like giving them spaces for free exhibitions (from time to time), contribute % of the profit to events, produce free social media about the culture life in the city f.e. New York.
Society should try to “listen to artists “.
