We were lucky to catch up with Katy Buskirk recently and have shared our conversation below.

Katy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

It’s Love Y’all: Spreading Love, One Note at a Time.

Seventeen years ago, my life changed overnight. Unrelenting, constant head pain that was the worst pain imaginable became my new normal. My old life was over, and a new journey had begun. Nothing was seen on x-rays, and the pain and I became a mystery to everyone. For more than a decade of this time, I was completely bedridden, as being upright made the unbearable pain even worse.

I experienced what it is like to feel utterly alone, miserable, unseen, and the full spectrum of painful emotions. There also was one constant: Love. Whether from my mama, who never gave up on getting me the neurosurgeries and help that saved my life, or the presence of the Divine, I always felt Love. Love held me when I was immersed in the darkest of pains. Love wiped my tears as I begged for miracles. Love enveloped me with a cocoon of support when I was so tired I didn’t know how to keep going. I would receive “It’s Love” for every answer I asked Spirit. It’s Love Y’all and the mission of spreading the same Divine Unconditional Love that heals me was birthed by my own experience. I share what I need with anyone whose heart has been waiting to receive.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Little did I know that the messages of Unconditional Love I’ve always heard would be the exact medicine of miracles I would need to keep going. After experiencing a near-fatal injury 17 years ago, these messages got louder and kept me going when I wanted to give up from the constant ‘worst pain I could imagine.’ After a life-saving practice of writing the messages I heard and attuning myself to Unconditional Love in the process, I am now sharing the energies that healed me in the form of Divine Love Notes. My soul’s mission is to spread the frequency of Divine Unconditional Love and the miracles it is often accompanied by… Love is Home.

I was the little girl mesmerized by the messages I would see on vintage Valentine’s from over a hundred years ago. They mirrored the love notes I wrote to family, friends, and strangers. Little did I know that my lifelong passion for ‘loving on people’ would expand due to my healing journey… first being myself. Whether in handwritten and postal mail, digitally mailed, or audio messages, I spread Love in ‘note’ form. 

These messages are beyond a message of support. They attune the reader to their own Unconditional Love and hold space for the miracles always present to grow. Miracles of being seen, heard, peace, and Love surrounding us all flow to the reader. ILY Love Notes are grand mirrors of the Love always present and a gentle hug in the darkest times of sorrow and pain. They are the medicine I originally received and come from Divine Love, not Katy. They are unique to the receiver as I use my gifts of connecting with the Divine to share the one-of-a-kind brilliance I see and experience with everyone.  

ILY is here to serve anyone who resonates with this work, no matter their budget. I share a free love note email newsletter on Substack and personalized love notes for purchase on the website. The ILY Love Note Movement was created to inspire more people to share love with their notes or nominations. For 2025, I introduced a monthly message subscription called “Mirrors of Magnificence.” A letter of Love and honor is channeled for the group every month. It is then printed on beautiful stationary and snail-mailed to folks worldwide. Each love note carries layers beyond the words that continue to nurture healing for a lifetime. It’s Love Y’all is a miracle I received, and it is my honor and joy to share it with those who’ve been waiting.

To the heavy hearts, the humans healing, and those caring for others, I see you. I see your determination and tiredness. I see your brilliance and sometimes needing a break. Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

It is funny how sometimes we might not see or consider ourselves ‘resilient’ until Life puts us in situations where we live it. I’ve been called resilient many times, but I still don’t always see it that way because I received so much help. Help always arrived precisely when I needed it: a friend sent the exact message I needed; a family acquaintance pulled strings for a doctor to see me; a new technique gave me hope. How much of resilience is simply ‘being’ however you can until Life and Love nudges you with a blessing… like a path marker right when you feel completely lost and ready to sit down in your spot.

Over the years, there have been many heartbreaks. The tests wouldn’t show what was going on, and the pain was invisible to everyone but me. The ‘renowned doctor’ looked at me like I was making it up and then sent me out the door. The new treatment changed nothing. The examples could go on and on. I would want to give up for a second, and then a charge would move through me. It felt like unstoppable fire and lightning bolting through my body. I was going to LIVE. Someday, I would have a life where I could go to a movie, visit a friend, care for myself, and even travel. This charge would have me digging my heels in and getting to work. When I was too tired, then divine intervention would show up. Resilience feels like equal parts presence, listening, and receiving to me. I did nothing alone. I am here because of the Love surrounding me… human, angel, nature, and energy.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

Not trusting myself: “You know you best” was said to me by my spirit over and over again. It was like a song I couldn’t get out of my head that looped in rainbow circles as I laid in bed. When I asked what it meant, it explained that I was the best person to hear from the Divine on what I needed for my life and healing journey. It said I would be guided to people who could help me. They would have gifts, tools, and wisdom that could assist or even be a ‘fast track.’ Instead of me doing it all on my own, these people would support me in a way that feels miraculous and also purely simple… like the love of friendship. It also wanted me to remember that their wisdom is not greater than the wisdom of my own heart when it comes to me. Nobody’s wisdom is grander than the wisdom within each of us for us.

I was receiving this message because, for many years, I constantly looked outside of myself for answers. I was a 13-year-old kid when the journey started. I had doctors who told me they didn’t want me to speak and to be silent while ‘the adults were talking.’ I thought every doctor or adult knew better than me, and I completely ignored my intuition and inner knowing. Then, I became an adult, and I continued this pattern. “You know you best” came in to get me to unlearn putting others’ opinions above my intuition and heal the lack of trust within myself. The more I trusted, the more I heard exactly what I needed. From healing myself to guidance about specific questions and teachings to ask specific people, I am constantly guided by the Love within. A cornerstone of It’s Love Y’all is a reminder of every person’s own wisdom and power.. ‘compost what doesn’t resonate because You know You best.’ May we all remember and trust the wisdom within our own hearts.
