We recently connected with Katrina Uritis and have shared our conversation below.
Katrina, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project was one with these two women who wanted to paint on baby clothes to surprise their sister who is having a child with a mental disability. I was able to guide her in her design and help her execute the final product.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Katrina and I am an artist based out of south Florida. I have always been an artist, and after college didn’t know what I could do with my art degree. I believe that everyone has an inner artist, they just need some guidance! My painting classes are first and foremost about having fun! I like everyone to feel comfortable no matter if they have painted before or not. I teach my classes based off of different designs I paint over the week, and let the class decide! I provide you with a tote bag, and all the tools and supplies you need to achieve the final result. The class is all about having fun, enjoying the journey, meeting new people, and encouraging everyone to express themselves along the way. Painting can be really great therapy, and an awesome activity for people of all ages and skill levels.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect being an artist, is seeing the emotion and expression of the person either creating,, or receiving the art. It is a magical feeling to see someone who thought they could not create something beautiful, execute it. When I can assist someone to achieve their final result and enjoy the process along the way, that’s all I can ask for.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal driving my creative journey would be to help others. I love being able to help people who never thought they could paint, dive into the learning experience and escape reality for a second. I encourage people to put their stressful busy life on hold, take a seat, pick up a brush, and escape reality through self expression and vibrant colors.
