We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Katrina Glenn. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Katrina below.
Katrina, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
I spent seven years as a high school Special Education teacher. I absolutely loved the students I worked with and supporting their growth as they reached for their dreams and goals. When I got out of a toxic relationship and worked on healing myself, I noticed that my career burdens were similarly toxic. I had developed insomnia and my struggles with anxiety and depression were increasing. I decided I deserved to make myself a priority. I left my classroom teaching position in May 2019 without knowing what was next. Looking back, this is such a pivotal moment because I stood up and said I deserve to be happy and gave myself space to figure out what that could look like.
Katrina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My practices and offerings are centered on authentic sharing of gifts. I love getting to know individuals one on one and curating a yoga flow, tarot reading, meditation, or special event/retreat to their particular needs, intentions, and desires. It brings me immense joy and gratitude to be able to offer my talents and skills to hold space for people to heal, grow, and blossom.
I’ve been practicing yoga for almost 20 years. I went to Yoga Teacher Training when I was rediscovering myself in 2016. Now, I’ve synthesized what I learned as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT200) with my experience as an educator. By coming to people’s homes and providing individualized services catered to their goals and needs in that moment, I have a unique opportunity to embrace the authenticity of each person’s journey.
As I was looking for more guidance in my career and life after leaving the classroom, I turned to the deep wisdom and insight of my tarot cards. For several years, I’ve been honing my craft and connection to the universe with daily tarot readings. There’s such beauty in being a conduit for wisdom from the universe and being able to provide a tarot reading that truly resonates.
My brand is built on authenticity, empathy, and intuition. Two of my best friends encouraged me to take the leap and start this business. They were even generous enough to help me launch my gorgeous website: rainbowdotspirituality.com
I’d love to pass on their generosity and support others on their journeys as they lean into their most authentic selves. For me, the best way to share and support is through yoga and tarot.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Be patient. Let your business grow organically. There is no rush, no need to force anything. Show up as your authentic self. You have so much to offer! You can provide valuable services while learning and growing. I’d also recommend holding healthy boundaries for yourself. It’s easy for the generous of heart to be taken advantage of, especially within the spiritual and yoga communities. It’s okay to say no to things that don’t resonate with you. If the vibes feel off, trust your intuition. Steer clear of toxic positivity, allow yourself and your clients to show up exactly as they are.
The people who are meant for you will find you. You’ll find supportive and encouraging community. Let your garden grow and bloom in its own time.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Leading with my heart and being willing to listen, learn, and grow. I’ve received so much positive feedback on the healing I offer and sacred space I hold. Continuing to show up as myself and give myself grace to grow and figure things out on my own divine timing. My business may be small but it’s filled with great joy and gratitude. I look forward to all I get to meet and help along their journeys! It’s also important to continue to prioritize my well being. I can’t hold space for others if I’m stuck in trauma response or need time to process my own feelings/needs. I make room to show up for myself. This enables me to show up for others as my most sparkly, authentic self.
