We were lucky to catch up with Katrina Fleisher recently and have shared our conversation below.
Katrina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
When I was 19 years old, I worked at Starbucks in a one-Starbucks, Texas town. I am from very humble financial beginnings, and a coworker of mine (lovingly referred to as “Mamma D”) was aware of this.
One day she astounded me by handing me a check to put toward my first semester of college, simply because she “believed in my brainpower”. I am endlessly grateful for and inspired by her remarkable generosity. She taught me more than anything I learned in a classroom.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I own and operate Click Kat Marketing & Media as a marketing consultant and writer, specializing in the events and entertainment industry. I also run Let’s Party! DJs & Events with my husband and business partner, Bud, and together we own and manage the Facebook group, South Florida Weddings, one of the largest and fastest-growing groups on the platform.
Like most business owners, I wear a lot of hats! Apart from sales, marketing, and administrative duties, I design logos, email mailings, websites, invitations, postcards, flyers, brochures, ads, business cards, etc. I also write website copy, articles, press releases, personalized wedding vows, and poetry, and I’ve even done voiceover work for radio ads.
I’ve always enjoyed all things creative, and when I met my husband, I realized I could use my interests to take his business to the next level while simultaneously making a niche for myself within the marketing industry. I enjoy spreading messages of love and celebration and promoting companies and individuals that offer both quality and value to clients.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
There have been multiple pivots! For six years, our event business was partnered with a fantastic catering team at a lovely venue, and together, we built a successful enterprise, putting the venue on the map from virtually zero! Even during the Pandemic, business grew. An enormous amount of heart and effort went into the project, but ultimately and unfortunately, the owner of the building parted ways with our catering partners, and we were all out of luck… But life goes on! We’ve maintained and built relationships with others venues and have utilized other avenues to market our various services.
Recently, my husband has been focusing more on his wedding officiant service, Reverend Buddy. It is a role he takes earnestly, as he cherishes the sanctity of marriage. He celebrates love every day, both in his ceremonies, and in our everyday life. I’m incredibly lucky to have him as my husband.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
In recent years, most of our clients come from the web. Google is still “king”, so having a Google Places profile and excellent SEO is a must. However, many of our clients come from our South Florida Weddings Facebook group as well!
Word of mouth is also helpful. We have mutually beneficial relationships with several venues, caterers, event planners, and organizations, and after many years in service, we are fairly well-known within our industry and community.
The main thing is to stay active and build relationships! Focus your energies on what works best for you and your specific business, but don’t be afraid to keep an open mind and try new strategies. If you don’t know where to begin, try attending a networking meeting, get involved in serving your community, join related Facebook groups, start a blog, or upload some videos to YouTube and/or TikTok. You never know where your next opportunity could come from.
