We recently connected with Katrina Cryder and have shared our conversation below.
Katrina, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
When I was a teenager, I worked after school as a receptionist at my chiropractor’s office. Working as a receptionist, allowed me to hear all the patients stories of how they had overcome health issues with the help of chiropractic. I thought to myself that if I could help people feel better and live a better life, that would be a really cool job to have.
As I started my journey through chiropractic school, I began reading a lot more about nutrition. As a teenager, I suffered with severe acne. After trying the conventional medical route, with no success I started to look into holistic methods. Nutrition was a huge piece of the puzzle for me and healing my acne. It was this discovery that led me to see the value of other holistic services besides chiropractic. This discovery made me want to open up a business that offered many different wellness services so people could come to one facility and try several different healing modalities.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My mom started me under care for chronic ear aches. Growing up we all went to the chiropractor for a monthly adjustment. My chiropractor did a great job educating me on how the body functioned. When we have a nervous system that is clear of interference the body can function optimally and heal itself. It was this grounded believe in health from the inside out that led me on my journey into chiropractic as a career for myself.
At Touch of Health we offer a variety of services for families from chiropractic, massage, nutrition, pelvic floor pt, yoga, prenatal and postnatal movement classes and health related workshops to empower and guide you on your wellness journey.
I have seen chiropractic care help children with so many common childhood issues like ear aches, fevers, constipation, digestive disturbances, torticollis, growing pains, reflux, colic and asthma just to name a few. We have helped moms with anxiety, neck and shoulder tension, burnout, low back pain, poor posture, and headaches.
The thing that sets me apart from other chiropractors is that I practice gentle chiropractic. My technique involves no popping, no cracking and no twisting. I use instrument adjusting along with a very sophisticated drop table to adjust my clients. Gentle chiropractic is great for all ages and stages from newborns to their grandparents. So many people seek me out because of my gentle technique.
My true passion is helping Moms and families. Chiropractic care had a profound impact on my health and I want to pass that on to the families that come into my office. Chiropractic led me to a more nature way of living and over the years I have made modifications to my life to eat better food, reduce toxins and cultivate healthy habits. The changes that I made for myself, I now help other parents implement into their family routine so that they can create healthier and happier kids.
Families now days are inundated with information about what is healthy and what is not. There is so much information it’s hard to know what to believe. I help families sift through that info and make small changes so they can live a low tox more natural lifestyle.
My online course “Raising Healthy Kids” helps overwhelmed parents create healthy habits without the need to do it all perfectly. My goal is to shift the stats on children’s health by empowering parents with the tools needed to raise healthy kids.

How’d you meet your business partner?
Melissa Merritt is our amazing massage therapist and my business partner. Her and I met at a previous office that we were both working at. It was at that office that our friendship blossomed. We became best friends in and out of the office. Chiropractic and massage are a great compliment to one another and we saw that in the results our shared patients received from their care.
When I decided it was time for me to start my own office I asked Melissa if she wanted to join me and that’s how Touch of Health was born. Our office has been in business for 14 years. We have been through so many ups and downs that come with owning a business. Our bubbly personalities and the way we work together to help people achieve their health goals is what sets us apart from other offices.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
From day one the base of our business has been patient referrals and strategic partnerships with other practitioners. Our clients are always telling their friends about our services. We also have a networking group every couple months in our office for wellness professionals to meet and connect. We have built great relationships with other practitioners in the area. We also have a list of practitioners that we can refer our clients to practitioners that we know and trust.
Really one word that sums up what I said above is COMMUNITY. We create community!
