We were lucky to catch up with Katri Palm recently and have shared our conversation below.
Katri, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?

To be successful in any industry, I believe it takes a combination of passion, perseverance, and a strong work ethic. When you’re passionate about something, it becomes a bit easier to stay motivated and push through obstacles that come your way. Hard work is absolutely essential and if you’re willing to put in the time and effort, you will most likely achieve great things.
Katri, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Katri Palm born and raised in Estonia and I’m the founder of a swim/beachwear brand called KISS ‘N’ THRILL. I’ve had a spark for fashion and design since I was a little girl, but my university years took me to completely another direction.
It wasn’t until I started traveling back in 2015 when I noticed a gap in the market for swimwear that was both stylish, fierce and functional, so I started slowly thinking about creating my own. Kiss ‘n’ Thrill was then launched in 2019.
We offer a range of swimwear and beachwear products, including bikinis, one-piece swimsuits, cover-ups, and accessories. We are a slow fashion brand and we prioritize ethical and sustainable production methods. All our goods are made in Bali, Indonesia by local craftsman.
Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
We manufacture all our products in Bali and it took us quite a few trials and errors before we found a manufacturer who could meet our standards. In the end we found our team through a traditional local Balinese family, that we met years ago, and still kept in contact.
In other words I could say that word of mouth and networking with local people on the island has been a big help for us.
In terms of manufacturing I believe communication is the key. As I currently live in Bali myself, I am able to be on spot when we make new designs and samples, and that helps to prevent misunderstandings. But of corse I’ve learned along the way that you really need to be ready for unexpected errors during the manufacturing process and how crucial is detailed quality control. Ensuring the product meets quality standards is so important for customer satisfaction and still until this day, I go over a lot of products myself, to ensure that there are little to no mistakes.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
We’ve been really focusing on developing a strong brand identity. This includes creating a unique brand name and aesthetic that reflects to our brand’s values and speaks to the audience.
Our goal from the start has been a strong social media presence and to define Kiss ’n’ Thrill as a brand that gives its customers an empowering type of feeling when they wear our products. And I am so happy that our community of Kiss ’n’ Thrill It girls is growing each year.
