We were lucky to catch up with Katisha Pace recently and have shared our conversation below.
Katisha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you have a hero? What have you learned from them?
My husband is my hero. When we were dating he was traveling 1 1/2 hours one way to work everyday. He would wake up sometimes at 2:00AM to go to work if he was on overtime. He would leave his day job, drive another 1 1/2 hours and work a second job. He never ever complained. In the 5 years we’ve been together he has not only taught me the value of hard work, but he has supported me in a way that I have never experienced and never thought possible.
I struggle with anxiety and sometimes it’s hard to get out of my head. When expressing to my husband that I wanted to start a bakery, he really help me push past a lot of my fears and have me the confidence to just do it. He is always with me at markets and pop ups setting up my tent and tables. On days that he can’t make it due to work, he will work from home those days so that he can watch our son. He works full time as a manager and also has a small business of his own, but he is always there for my son and I and he does it all without ever complaining. For these reason and many many more not mentioned, my husband is my hero.
Katisha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Katisha and I am the Owner of Curly Head Baker, a small cottage bakery in Rowlett, TX. I have been baking since I was 5 years old. I specialize in macarons, stuffed cookies, decorated cookie cakes, various breads and pastas. Everything that comes out of my kitchen is made from scratch. For me, it’s important to know exactly what’s in my food, and I bake for people who feel the same.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Pop ups and farmers markets have been he best source of new clients for me. For the pat 6 months I have been traveling all over DFW for pop ups, but starting in April I am trying have set weekly markets to build a more loyal customer based. I plan to open a brick and mortar in the next couple of years and would love to have a loyal base to follow me.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I keep in touch with my customers mainly by email. I try to take an email sign up sheet with me to all of my events. I also have a sign with a QR that goes to my website and social media sites.
