We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Katie Reinhart. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Katie below.
Hi Katie, thanks for joining us today. How did you find your key vendor or vendors? Maybe you can share the backstory and share some context and the relevant details to help us understand why you chose them, why they chose you, etc.
At Refound, we consider our sellers the heart of what we do. They’re a mix of local small businesses —like vintage dealers and refinishers who give old pieces a new lease on life—and everyday people who have a quality piece they’re ready to pass along from their home.
When we launched, we knew we wanted to tap into Denver’s vibrant vintage selling community. The small businesses here are incredible—they’re not just selling furniture, they’re reviving unique, high-quality items that tell a story. These sellers are sourcing the coolest vintage finds and putting so much care into bringing them back to life. (A couple of our sellers, Den Styling, Siren Decor and Serpentine Lines are featured in our photos!)
At the same time, we’re focused on turning our buyers into sellers when the time is right. If you’ve got a great piece that no longer fits your space, Refound makes it simple to pass it on to someone who will appreciate its beauty and character. It’s all about creating a circular community where high-quality furniture finds new homes and continues to bring joy.
Katie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi there! I’m Katie, the Founder at Refound. I’ve always had a deep love for interior design and the magic of finding unique pieces that make a space feel truly personal. I’m the type of person who gets excited about the hunt for that one-of-a-kind vintage chair or a pre-loved coffee table with a story behind it. But like many people, I found the process of sourcing these treasures to be frustrating. It wasn’t always convenient, and it often felt like a gamble—would the quality match the description? Would the seller show up? Could I even transport it?
That’s what inspired Refound. I wanted to create a space where finding and selling high-quality, pre-loved furniture was as easy and safe as shopping for something brand-new. Our platform connects Denver locals with unique, one-of-a-kind furniture and home goods while solving real challenges: convenience, safety, and sustainability.
At Refound, we’re promoting a circular economy by giving these beautiful pieces a second life. Whether it’s a mid-century modern dresser from a professional vintage dealer or a high-quality dining table a family is ready to part with, every item we feature has been reviewed to ensure it meets our listing guidelines.
What sets us apart is the trust and ease we bring to the secondhand market. From verified sellers to secure payments and local delivery, we’ve removed the pain points so people can shop confidently. But beyond that, I’m most proud of the community we’re building. Each piece has a story, and every transaction connects people—whether it’s supporting a small business or helping a family refresh their home.
At the core of Refound is a belief that your home should reflect your unique style, that great design doesn’t have to come at the expense of the environment, and that shopping for pre-loved pieces should be a joyful, stress-free experience. We’re still early in our journey, but the response so far has been incredible, and I’m excited to see how we continue to grow.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Building our audience on social media was really the beginning of our journey, and it all started with immersing ourselves in the incredible Denver vintage and resale community on Instagram. There’s so much inspiration and talent out there, and connecting with like-minded people who share our passion for sustainability and design has been amazing. From professional vintage sellers to everyday people who love unique finds, forming those relationships has been a big part of our growth.
We also focused on telling our story and doing our best to show up authentically. People connect with realness, so we made it a priority to share who we are, what we stand for, and why Refound exists. We’ve tried to put ourselves out there in a way that feels genuine.
If I could give one piece of advice to anyone just starting out, it’s to be authentic. Don’t be afraid to show the real you—your passion, your struggles, your wins. People want to feel like they know who they’re supporting, especially in a space like social media where everything is often so curated.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
We’re still in the early stages, so there’s a lot of work ahead, but growing our customer base has been such an exciting challenge. Right now, we’re really focusing on increasing awareness for Refound—helping people understand what we’re all about and why shopping pre-loved is such a win for their homes and the environment.
Social media has been a key tool for us in these early days. It’s allowed us to connect directly with people who share our love for unique vintage and pre-owned furniture. By sharing our story and showcasing the amazing pieces on our platform, we’ve been able to build a sense of community and attract people who align with our mission.
Our sellers have also been an incredible resource. Many of them already have established audiences who trust their eye for quality and design, and they’ve helped introduce Refound to their customers. It’s been a win-win—our sellers bring in their loyal followers, and we help them find a wider audience through the Refound platform.
The journey is just beginning, and we’re learning as we go, but every new customer feels like a step closer to our vision of building a thriving, sustainable marketplace.
