We recently connected with Katie Kinsley and have shared our conversation below.

Katie, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump back to the first dollar you earned as a creative? What can you share with us about how it happened?

In January 2022 I started tracking my income in an excel report. I’ve only been working with affiliate sales for a few months and it’s good to see where I’m at now versus where I started.

Some of the product collaborations require me to purchase the products with my own money. I”m then reimbursed after I fulfill the collaboration requirements.

I also track expenses for my domain hosting, income from clothing resales and income from cash back apps. It’s good to see the whole picture!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I’m all over the place! I began writing “how to” articles to explain how to setup and use digital tools like Google Analytics. I wanted to help other people use these tools in their own blogging.

I also have been working on myself so I turned my writing more introspective while I explored some mental health topics. In 2022 I focused on my health and I lost 10 pounds by the end of March.

Most recently I traveled to Disney World and I’m sharing tips/guides/outfits I wore on my trip.

I have so many interests and I like to share it all – so “lifestyle” is my best category!

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

SEO. I didn’t learn about SEO until the pandemic hit in 2020. I took an online course and it really opened my eyes. I learned how to write and optimize for SEO on my website. It helped me really gain perspective. I am more intentional with my writing when I have an idea.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

Writing has become a sort of therapy for myself when I write on introspective topics. It’s difficult for me to talk about some subjects, but I’m trying to use my platform and Instagram to share tips I’ve learned along the way.
