We were lucky to catch up with Katie Gray recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Katie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
My most meaningful project to date has been my GROW Confidence workshops for girls. I still remember the day that I knew that I wanted to become a confidence coach. It was during the summer of 2020. My little girl, who was 11 at the time, had a soul-crushing moment when her lack of confidence in herself had left her raw and vulnerable. I was so glad that she’d opened up to me, but also brokenhearted that she was going through so much pain because she didn’t recognize her own value, her worth.
It was then that I knew that I needed to reach women and girls with a message of worth. That I needed to teach how one can cultivate confidence from the seed of who we are to the face we show the world, and every step in between. From the seed of that conversation, my confidence program was born. Now it is the underlying theme of every product I offer in my business.
What I’m most excited about is my most recent venture of reaching underserved girls in my community. Many businesses have started to come along and sponsor these Confidence workshops so that I can partner with non-profits to reach at risk girls or girls in need.

Katie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
If I could sum up my childhood, I’d say I was a shy, quiet girl with a thirst for adventure, but a lack of freedom (and confidence) to pursue adventure of any kind. There were clear boundaries set for me, and I didn’t stray too much beyond those boundaries for fear of the consequences. Life was a set of rules meant to be obeyed, and I was fearful what it meant about me that I didn’t want to follow any of them.
As an adult I started to realize that there were lots of different sets of rules. That adventure wasn’t dangerous and my desire for it wasn’t wrong. It took alot of courage to move beyond the fear of getting things all wrong…making the wrong decisions, doing things the wrong way, messing things up. I started to realize that pretending I had it all together according to someone else’s standard was much, much more limiting than just admitting that I don’t have it all together at all, and that that was ok.
I think that was when my own confidence began to grow. Ironic, isn’t it? That admitting how flawed you are can build your confidence? When I saw my daughter struggling with her own self-confidence, it really affected me like nothing else ever had. I didn’t want her succumbing to the judgment and self-recrimination that comes from comparing yourself to others that seem to be perfect…and feeling like you came up short. That somehow detesting or belittling yourself would make others love or like you more.
That’s why my confidence courses mean so much to me. It’s freeing to see yourself as an imperfect, but beautiful work of art. A gift of love to the world. My goal is for every woman and girl to know and love the gift that is HER. I believe that true happiness comes from being thankful for who we are and co-creating that vision of who we want to become.
No young girl need ever question her worth. No teenager need ever question her identity. No young mother need ever question her place in the world. No empty-nester need ever question if she is relevant in society. And no female need EVER reach the end of her life and question if she was enough, if she DID enough. The answer to every single one of those questions is in the very core of who she is, and my passion is to help her uncover that seed of truth.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
All work by Dr. Joe Dispenza is fascinating to me. I love the profound depth yet relative simplicity of his message: That our thoughts and beliefs are creating our reality, so a simple shift in either one will begin to change how we experience life.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Beauty. People think beauty is about our bodies or our looks or our surroundings. I like to teach people how to think beautiful thoughts about themselves, others, and the world around them. When we think beautifully, we feel beautiful. When we think beautiful thoughts, we create more beauty and that attracts more beauty. Using our imagination to think beautiful thoughts is the gift that keeps on giving.
