We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Katie Force-white a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Katie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
In order to be successful in the industry that I am currently in it takes a drive and a motivation that comes from within. As someone who started in real estate as a single mom, I did not have a Plan B. I believe having a Plan B is actually a plan to fail at plan a. In this industry, you were building everything yourself. You are creating a business and developing relationships to build your own business. You are 100% in control of how much money you will make based on the activities that you are willing to put forth.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
When I chose to get into the real estate industry, I chose a profession that was based off of commission. That meant that I needed to have a can-do attitude and will do just about anything to make sure that I have the income to provide for my family. What I learned along the way is that you have to be aligned with people who also support you in your drive to succeed. I surrounded myself with coaches and people who were there to hold me accountable and push me to go to the next level. As somebody who didn’t know anybody in the city that I was living in, I was able to create a niche working with the military. I had been a Coast Guard wife for 14 years and most of my friends were from the military community. Those people were my greatest support and my biggest fans and help me to grow an incredible business. I learned very quickly that this is a relationship building business. I also learned that you have to constantly be willing to educate yourself on all of the changes in an ever changing market. The thing that set me apart is, I understood what it was like to move to a new state not know a single person and have only one week to find a home. That made me valuable to the clients who were also in the same situation that I was in, I understood the experience that they were going through. I became an incredible listener because there were times that I had to help people buy houses that they were never gonna see until they moved there. Getting to the point of building a very successful business in real estate. I was given the opportunity to become the team leader of my market center. I was excited that this brought me into a position where I was gonna be able to coach top agents to grow their businesses. This led me to be becoming a real estate business coach, and coaching agents across the United States at developing larger businesses. I’ve been doing that for the last seven years. I was now given another opportunity to move to Florida and become a team leader of another market center. It gave me the opportunity to Coach the top 20% of the agents in the office. Along the way, I have developed my coaching skills through a life coaching program at IPEC. I also became a John maxwell certified coach. And I work with a company called MAPS Coaching.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think the one thing that helped me build my reputation is that I was willing to go above and beyond and do whatever it took for my clients to have the best possible experience and the most connections. Today as a coach and a leader, I am still a connector and helping people to get connected with who they need in order to grow their business or accomplish a task at hand
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I think going through the John maxwell certification program was one of the most rewarding things that I’ve been able to do. Having the experience of learning from somebody who is such an incredible speaker trainer and coach like John maxwell was priceless. It also put me in rooms with other world leaders and people who were growing big businesses and had big impacts on people‘s lives. Today reading John maxwell books as they come out continues to be a great way to learn and grow.
