Hi Katie, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.

Education! I love educating my staff and making sure we are on the cutting edge of the industry. I want to bring new things to the spot light. Getting by and doing things “the way we have always done it” doesn’t cut it for me.

Katie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Hi! I am Katie and I am nurse practitioner, business owner, injector, wife, mother, sister and friend. I currently own and manage 4 medical spas in Montana with over 40 employees. I was born and raised in Montana with my 3 sisters whom are all successful entrepreneurs as well. I wanted to bring something to Montana that only bigger cities had to offer. Just because I live in a small town doesn’t mean I can’t bring the best care to my patients.
I started Crafted in 2013 a medical spa that specializes in skin, injectables, and woman’s health with one employee, me. I was the front desk, manager, HR, injector, social media gal, cleaner… you name it, I did it.. I put my head down and didn’t come up for air until I felt like I had a diamond on my hands. I am proud to say I have grown to 4 different locations (working on the 4th) and have had to delicate all the tasks I once did to others, and honestly it feels good. I am so proud of all the girls I get to work beside and grow Crafted even more!
The goal is so much more than to make people look better on the outside. It’s about building confidence, building relationships, and bringing positive energy. I always tell my patients look better, feel better, do better. I absolutely love my job and the people I work with!

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

Like so many people during COVID our industry had to pivot and get creative! I immediately jumped on social media and started doing skin care tutorials and product reviews! I needed cash flow while we were closed as the rent was still due! I felt so grateful that people supported and purchased while we were closed!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

Social media is a love/hate for me! It is a necessary evil! It has made my business successful and I will always be grateful! One thing you absolutely have to do on social media is be authentic and true to who you are! The biggest compliment I get is when I meet people and they say “I felt like I knew you before I met you because of your online plateform, and after meeting you, you are just like you are online.” Nothing is worse than running into your idol and having them be totally unrelatable.
