Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Katie Becker. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Katie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?

My dream was always to be a business owner. After I get my diploma back in my country I was working for a big company, which I know it wasn’t for me. Few years later I moved to the US and I opened my own business as a lash artist then I added more and more services. I love to be my own boss, I work hard, I love to make my clients happy. Also my life is much more flexible, I can take more vacations since I have my assistant cover me. I couldn’t be happier as a business owner.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My main service is eyelash extension. I make sure I work with the best quality lashes and my clients are happy when they walk out on the door and can’t wait to come back. If someone has issue with my work (allergies or anything else) I offer them a retouch or a money refund. I also do organic airbrush tanning and my solution so far is the best, every single person loves it and I’m so proud of it. I love beauty, that’s my passion, I believe that’s why I’m good in it.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

When I started my business I was looking for influencers in my area (Miami) and started to collaborate them. In the beginning I was doing the service for free then later on half price then 20% discount for a post or an IG story. Right now luckily I reached that amount of client tell that I’m always busy so I don’t have the capacity to do it anymore but it works really well!

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?

Yes it did! Of course in the beginning I didn’t have enough clients to pay my bills so I had to work as a bottle server as well but I didn’t give up and in a year I was able to put my “side hustle” as my main business.
