Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Katia Miller. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Katia , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
I can remember the very moment where my passion and interest in becoming a Wellness Coach was born. I was sharing the products that I personally was taking with others through social media and it wasn’t until I had my first customer outside of my circle of influence get results on the products and have a life changing testimony where I said this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. My customer had shared with me her struggles with losing weight and how It had impacted her whole family for generations to the point where most of them chose to get surgery for weight loss. She came across my page on social media and decided what the heck I’ll try this before I sign the papers to move forward with the surgery . Within two months, she had dropped 30 pounds by changing her eating habits following my guidance, and taking the nutritional products I had suggested for her. She could not believe that she had gained control over her body and gotten these results without any surgery, even her family started to ask her what she had been doing. Needless to say she did not move forward with going under the knife and was able to reach her fitness goals through my program. It was the first time in my life where I felt like I had significantly made an impact in another persons life.I believe most of us are searching, not just to make money, but to make a difference in others lives. That is what I found with this opportunity of coaching others virtually and in person.
Katia , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into the industry because I was on the other side. I was the customer looking for a way to lose weight. I had tried many diets, workout routines, and programs in the past and always managed to lose the results and gain the weight back. I had not found something that aligned with my lifestyle long-term until this very program. In no way did I ever think I would be involved in any type of business, but I became very passionate about the products and changing not just my life but the lives of others. I knew exactly how people felt hopeless trying many things and not finding something that works. I understood people’s frustrations and setbacks. Prior to starting this business, I was a waitress and a student working my way through college, trying to make a life with my husband, but feeling really stuck. So, I guess you can say it was the perfect timing mixed with the right opportunity. I had no skills yet, just passion and a good product, but it was enough to build a business for myself where I matched what I was making at my waitressing job full-time. Along the way, I started to equip myself and learn skills that I would need to take this to a bigger scale. If it wasn’t for the amazing products and company, I would have never gotten a taste of what it was like to be in sales or build a business of any sort. A big part of a successful business is not just the products; it’s also the skills learned. But if you ask me, one of the biggest advantages for any entrepreneur to take their business to the highest peak is having a reason why. I was never a big dreamer, but I have a big heart for giving back to those close to me. In this journey of building my business, my parents were my reason why. Eighteen years prior to finding and starting my business, I was five years old when my parents made a decision to leave everything behind in our country of Peru and start anew in a country where we didn’t know anyone, nor spoke the language. My parents brought us to the United States in search of the American dream, and unfortunately, they were faced with what seemed like a nightmare – working 60+ hours a week in whatever they could find so that my brother and I didn’t have to go without. They made countless sacrifices, and through their actions, they showed me that it was okay to start over and build something from nothing as long as you did it honestly. I set a goal to build my business to six figures so that I could afford to take care of my parents’ bills. In a matter of four years, our business grew to multiple six figures, and I was able to make that dream come true.”
How’d you meet your business partner?
I am blessed to be able to build this business with my husband . Network marketing industry is very woman dominant but what happens a lot is that the husbands end up joining the business and that is what happened with us . I started first and then he saw the amazing opportunity to build a future in this business so he joined me as my business partner . I met Danny through a mutual friend in high school when we were just 14 years old and our relationship began when we were 16 . By 18 years old we decided to get married and move into my parents garage until we could afford to start our lives after college . My parents were very supportive and gave us the opportunity to go to college and not have to worry about rent . 5 years had passed and to be honest we had not made any progress in our career in fact we were getting into debt to be able to pay for our classes. In my fourth year of college is when the business opportunity came into our life . Who is in your circle will make you or break you in business and I could have not had a better partner than my husband to build what we built in 4 years .Two college dropouts built a business that is part of the 1% of the whole company . His skills with numbers and my passion for making a difference was the perfect combination .
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
I don’t believe in managing a team but more so leading them. Leading isn’t just being an example it’s being in the trenches with them and fighting not just for my dreams but for theirs too. Every person on our team knows our heart and that we continue to build because it’s our responsibility. Like one of my mentors said “Leadership is not about being in charge. It is about taking care of those in your charge.” – Jim Rohn . Team morale starts and ends with the leader so making sure my mind and focus are in the right things helps the over all moral of the team. It’s really easy to get distracted with the business and forget to continue working and developing your own mindset specially when things are going great . I’ve learned through error that you can’t stop doing what got you to where you are once you achieve the goal. Instead stretch the goal and stretch the discipline along with it . The moment you stop growing you start dying .
