Kati, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry.

The love affair of branding and marketing started at a young age for me. Both my parents were in sales, so it’s no surprise that I’ve always loved telling stories and I truly was born with the gift of gab (just ask every cashier at my local grocery store). I studied PR and Marketing in college and each professional role I’ve had since, I absorbed the responsibility of managing social media accounts and online presence. Telling a brand’s story fuels me with so much passion that I took the leap, left my corporate job, and focused on telling brand stories online full time.
Right now my clientele is filled with lifestyle influencers, small business owners and social climbers. With every client I work with, there’s a common theme: They know why social media and their branding image is important, but creating that presence is too time consuming and overwhelming to manage. My mission is to continue growing The Social Reco so I can help female owned businesses thrive in the social media space!
How did you build your audience on social media?
The beauty of social media is understanding and celebrating that no two accounts are alike! Before growing your audience, it’s important to know your mission and goal of your page, develop your unique voice, and implement a branding strategy that will work for you! This also makes content creation easier as well.
Consistency is the name of the game when it comes to follower growth. When I started showing up consistently on Instagram and positioned myself in high demand, I focused less on the follower count, but more about the value. I wanted to provide recos (recommendations) for social media users that were struggling with brand exposure and engagement, and growing my follower count was never a priority of mine for my personal brand. But when a follower tried my advice and it worked for their brand, they instantly trusted me as a resource and told their friends about me! I was able to secure FOUR full time clients alone just by referral of social media, with 380 followres. I have a tiny, but mighty community on Instagram and love everything about it!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Results! When a client saw results – whether that was engagement, more time at home to be a mom, relief from feeling like they had to post all the time… They shared it with me and I was able to put that in my portfolio and curriculum. I am big on delivering true testimonials and results and everyone I work with knows that! I also wasn’t afraid to network and meet other people in the online space, so people quickly knew who I was.
