Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kathy Puder. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kathy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Most all the projects I have worked on in life, I have seen the value and meaning for them. Many of them contribute to our society as a whole, or in the local community. Coming alongside others creates meaning in one’s own life, but more so in
the lives of others. There are three current projects that I am working on that I hope have a meaningful impact in many people’s lives. The first is a book I’m finishing is about different ways we can see God in our lives. The second is interviewing
veteran’s to share their stories of their experience serving in the military. You can hear their wonderful stories on either
my You Tube channel , “The American Film Series” or you can find their stories archived through the Veteran’s History Project
in the Library of Congress. The third project relates to both projects as it is a tv show that is still in development, but will hopefully help our country remember parts of our American History, and how it was established while reminding us how it can be fun to be able to be a part of learning more about it and helping to preserve it, too. These projects are meaningful to me because I see the loss of connection we have with one another sometimes in our society and how our American History is being erased from our minds and hearts as we are busy with our own lives and forget about how we, as a nation, became one in the first place.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
As an author, the love of writing has been with me since I was in high school starting with writing poems and short stories. I also enjoyed sharing that creative outlet with others by sending them notes of encouragement when I noticed someone needed it. It wasn’t until 2019 that I published my first book, “It Was The Morning of Christmas.” I am currently working on finishing my second book right now. In 2014, my daughter and I both starting getting involved in film as extras, and during that time, volunteering to help with an organization called Movie Guide that promotes and encourages family and faith based films.
As time went on, doors opened for the ability to contribute as a writer with some friends on two Indy films. The first one was
“Driver’s Chronicles” and the second one is “Unfaithful Espionage” which was a faith based film about a leader that was unfortunately betrayed by a friend. Besides having the blessing and opportunity to becoming a screenwriter, I also got to step into the role of Associate Producer and Director, too. Currently, I am interviewing veterans for my You tube channel called
“The American Film Series” as well as working on starting a tv show. As I have listened to these veterans stories, I see how much history is missing from the history books and how important it is to preserve their stories and give light to all of us how important and valuable it is to hear history come to life through others life experiences. Both the You tube channel and the tv show are ways that I hope to see people come together, learn about contributions that have been made in history, as well as people who might want to be a part of making contributions to preserve different areas of our American History today. I hope through these projects people will reconnect with one another and at the same time, remember that we are still one nation, under God, and we can be indivisible as we connect with one another in new ways while learning from the past.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is being able to see a vision, and a dream, come to life. The process of getting there is a reward in itself because you get to meet
and work with others, coming alongside of them, and hearing what their dreams and
visions might be, too. What is even cooler is seeing later the vision that was once in a
the mind of the creator become real for all to see and enjoy.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I think for those who say to themselves that they are “non creatives” and yet, they want to be a creative, all they have to do is start writing their vision down. Once they start doing that, then they have moved from
being non creative to becoming a creative. I encourage anyone who reads this and feels like they want to
create something, all they have to do is just get started by writing down their vision and reaching out to anyone
they feel might be an encouragement to them, too.
