We were lucky to catch up with Kathy Monte recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kathy, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Being successful really is a simple as how you create the experiences you provide to your clients . They are the most important part of your business and they should be treated as your number one priority from the first contact until their Wedding is executed .
I have always believed that my couples hire me because I take the time to discover who they are and what is most important to them as they step into planning the most important day of their lives .
I communicate immediately , effectively and consistently.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am the Owner , Designer and Planner of Wild Dahlia Designs a boutique floral design company located in Central PA. I have always had a love for all things creative but flowers are my absolute joy . I planned a wedding for a family member in 2011 and knew that Weddings and Events would be my future .
I provide full Wedding and Event Floral design and planning . I help to execute love stories as my job and this is what I am most proud of . To work in an industry that is highly competitive and very saturated I set myself apart by doing my very best to exceed expectations with every Wedding I produce . And I will go out of my way to make sure that my clients are happy .
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When Covid-19 hit hard Weddings and Events came to a grinding halt . I had to figure out a way to keep my business afloat during those trying times.. I did a post on social media offering to deliver vases of flowers to anyone that may want to purchase one . I didn’t think that much would come of this but by the next day I had over 180 orders for vases as people needed a way to feel connected at the time and they wanted to support a struggling small business .
This was a major shift for the floral end of my business and grew my client base by 75% . I discovered how phenomenal humanity is during that time . I survived and thrived because of some amazing humans that surrounded my business with support .
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Consistency , Communication, Efficiency and attempting to exceed the clients expectations with every event I have executed .
