We recently connected with Kathy Kat Eyes the Brand Washington and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kathy Kat Eyes the Brand, thanks for joining us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
It was actually! During the pandemic, I saw an crazy increase in my business! I made more that year than I have in the 7 years I had been a Master Cosmetologist. 2020 was the year that I started my e-commerce business selling over 7 products. I sold custom hair units, eye lash extensions, lace melt bands and hair growth oils just to name a few. My business grossed just under $100, 000 that year, which was so major to me, being that I had been living from pillar to post with my daughter for almost 4 years. That year taught me that if I had given up on my dreams and just excepted the cards I had been dealt, I wouldn’t be where I am today! Cozy!!!

Kathy Kat Eyes the Brand, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Kat Eyes the Brand, a mother, The Silk Press, Install & Custom Hair Unit Guru! I got my first salon job when I was seventeen years old, as a stylist assistant. I started college right after high school and by eighteen I was well known for being Kat Eyes the Lash Tech in my hometown of Savannah, GA. I specialize in hair growth honestly. I’ve found that if clients can still look stylist while growing their hair, they will actually commit to the process. I use hair extensions and hair wigs to do so. It is truly my passion! What sets me apart from most stylist is that I actually care about their real hair & services like trims & deep conditions are free just to get my clients to their hair goals. I am most proud being the hairstylist that my clients can depend on. I don’t cancel for the most part & they know that can depend on me to come up with solutions.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
From 2014 to 2017 I had no place to call my own. I would travel from Savannah, GA to Charleston, SC to make house calls just to take care of me and my then newborn daughter. I moved between both states to try to get some kind of housing. I lived in hotels and even with some of my clients just to get by, but I never gave up on what I had set in my mind. I knew that I was talented & I didn’t stop until everyone around me knew it.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Be professional! Be on time! Produce real hair growth & hair health results! I have a professional clientele and they have very important places to be. I don’t like playing with anyone’s time.
