Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kathy Copcutt. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kathy , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
As I grew up, I watched my mother, a single parent of two, find innovative ways to make a living. She is a true go-getter; it all began with her opening a booth at the local swap meet to sell clothes. Later, she returned to school to earn her diploma as an acupuncturist while also obtaining her real estate license. She always stressed that it’s never too late to change your direction, whether that involves something that isn’t working or allows for personal growth. She encouraged being open to new ideas, stating that if you don’t know something, you should go out and learn it. To this day, she insists, “The only time it’s too late is when you’re dead. Until then, you can achieve anything you want if you set your mind to it.”

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a single mom who homeschools and serves as a nationwide lifestyle TV host. My career began in cosmetics, where I worked as an Estée Lauder Account Coordinator. I then pursued my real estate and insurance licenses. As the blogging world started to take off, I launched my own blog, which eventually led to opportunities in red carpet coverage, talent interviews, and, most importantly, lifestyle segments that I genuinely enjoy. It’s a true privilege to collaborate with my TV stations, which I consider family. I’ve built wonderful relationships that I feel grateful for. I love knowing that when the audience tunes in for those five minutes, I’m hopefully bringing them happiness and inspiration.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The primary motivation that drives me is my son. I want to teach him that we learn something new every day and encourage him to embrace new adventures. It’s perfectly normal to feel scared of the unknown, but taking risks is essential. It’s crucial for us to grow and learn from our experiences so we can apply that knowledge effectively. Always strive to be around people who know more than you; otherwise, there’s no room for learning and growth. Most importantly, when you make a mistake, don’t hesitate to say, “I’m sorry.” Empathy is key—be kind to everyone and offer help whenever you can. We all start from the beginning, so never judge someone based on their current situation in life.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Knowing that for those few moments, I’m on TV in everyone’s living room is truly special. I’m excited to introduce products that can enhance their lives and bring joy. Through my social media pages, I share my adventures in the hope of bringing laughter to others and inspiring them to pursue their passions. My goal is for people to learn and grow, understanding that mistakes happen and that it’s perfectly okay to move on from them. We’re all in the same boat, experiencing different phases in our lives, but we’re not alone. Our society could use a bit more kindness, and I aspire to contribute that positivity to the world.
