We recently connected with Kathryn Currey and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kathryn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
The story behind our mission at Girl Friday stems from my own lifelong passion for helping people succeed. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been the one behind the curtain, making sure everything runs smoothly so others can shine. It’s fulfilling for me to see people meet their goals, whether it’s personal, professional, or otherwise, knowing I played a part in that success.
I founded Girl Friday on this very principle—to be the helping hand that lifts others up, giving them the time and freedom to focus on what really matters to them. Whether it’s spending more time with family, advancing in their careers, or launching new projects, I believe that by removing the day-to-day tasks and stresses, we empower our clients to achieve more.

Kathryn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been passionate about helping people. Growing up, I volunteered at a food bank and was a working student at a horse farm, where I helped others in exchange for the opportunity to ride. Service is in my blood, and that’s always driven me in everything I do.
Girl Friday was born from this lifelong commitment to serving others. After years of being the go-to person for friends, family, and colleagues to handle the tasks that often overwhelm, I saw a need for a service that offers this support to a wider audience. Many people don’t need a full-time executive assistant but could use a few hours each week to regain control of their lives. Girl Friday provides that flexibility—we step in to help with the day-to-day tasks that pile up, allowing our clients to focus on their personal and professional goals.
What I’m most proud of is how we empower people. Our service is more than just convenience; it’s about giving clients their time back. We offer them peace of mind and a chance to focus on what really matters in their lives. Girl Friday is about lifting burdens so our clients can succeed, and that’s a core part of who I am and what we do.
For anyone considering our services, the main thing to know is that we are here to help you reclaim your time. Whether you’re launching a new business, advancing in your career, or simply want to spend more quality time with family, we’re here to make it easier for you to do just that.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When it came to building my social media presence, I recognized early on that it wasn’t my strength. Rather than stressing over something I knew I wasn’t capable of handling effectively, I made the decision to outsource it. Hiring someone who specializes in social media was one of the best decisions I made for my business. It allowed me to focus on what I do best—helping people manage their lives and businesses—while ensuring my online presence was being handled with the expertise it needed.
This decision also reflects one of the core values at Girl Friday: knowing when to delegate. Just like I help my clients take tasks off their plates so they can focus on what matters most, I did the same by entrusting my social media to someone else. It’s about playing to our strengths and ensuring everything gets done in the best possible way.

Have you ever had to pivot?
I was working full-time as a sales executive, and while I was good at it, I knew deep down that it wasn’t the path for me. It felt more like something I was doing out of necessity rather than passion. I’ve always wanted to help people, and I realized that my true calling was in doing something that aligned more with that mission.
So, while still working in sales, I started Girl Friday on the side. I didn’t have a lot of time, but I made it work by meeting with clients early in the mornings, late in the evenings, or on weekends. I’d do odd jobs to help fund the business and get it off the ground. It wasn’t easy balancing both, but I was driven by the knowledge that I needed to make a change.
The turning point came when I recognized that I didn’t just want to work for someone else—I wanted to build something of my own. Girl Friday became that outlet, and over time, as it grew, I was able to step away from my sales career and focus fully on what I love. Pivoting was both challenging and rewarding, but it taught me that sometimes you have to trust yourself and your vision, even if the path is uncertain.
