Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Katherine Wilson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Katherine, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Florabella is actually a play on my name! My maiden name is Bell and my first name is Flora. It only made sense to combine them and make them my business name.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Florabella Productions is my life’s passion. I started planning weddings about 7 years ago. I helped a very close friend of mine plan her wedding and a year later found myself planning my own wedding. At first I thought I only enjoyed planning my wedding because it’s my own. I then realized that I just enjoy everything in the wedding world! I had my son in 2019 while working a corporate job and went through what many working moms have to decide. The decision whether or not to go back to work. My Husbands basketball training business thankfully had started to really pick up speed so he asked my the question that made Florabella Productions come to fruition. He said “Babe, what would make you the most happy?” From there I signed up for an online course in event planning and became a certified event planner. I’ve planned many different types of events and love each one equally. I hope that all of my clients know that I put my heart and soul into every event/Wedding. I joke with my brides that if we aren’t best friends by the end, that I haven’t done my job! I truly mean that though. I love what I do. I can’t imagine doing anything else that I would love more. It’s truly my passion.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My best advice for anyone wanting to get into event planning would be to invest in yourself. Social media is such an amazing tool to show off what you have to offer. I started by doing a styled shoot. I didn’t have any clients yet so I wanted a way to show clients what my style was. I thankfully had 2 amazing friends that are a husband and wife photography company that agreed to photograph my work so I would and content for social media and my website. I also reached out to the venue that hosted my wedding reception and they graciously agreed to let me shoot in there venue.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source for new clients for my business has been social media along with Weddingwire and The Knot. Brides/clients look to both of these when searching for vendors.
