We were lucky to catch up with Katherine Reedy recently and have shared our conversation below.
Katherine, appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
The name Rebel Daughter is a nod to my dad, whose nickname was “The Rebel” in his race car driving days.
Before I came up with the name, I spent a couple weeks brainstorming names, writing down words in a notebook like “impact,” “spotlight,” and “strategic” in various combinations. It all felt so generic. I wanted a name that felt personal.
As soon as Rebel Daughter Public Relations came into my head, I knew that was it.
My dad passed a few years before this all began, but I think he would dig the name. I think he’d love that I went out on my own, like he did at the end of his career. And that I’m in music, like he was when he was younger. It’s a great reason to think of him every day.

Katherine, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Rebel Daughter Public Relations helps musicians, creatives and entrepreneurs connect with their audiences and fans, build communities around their brand, elevate their profiles within their industry and attract new opportunities. We use public relations to advance our client’s dreams and help them get where they want to be.
I started the company in the summer of 2021 after an 18-year career in politics, government, media and communications. I jumped headfirst into the work I had always wanted to do, and never looked back. With Rebel Daughter Public Relations, I get to help others take similar steps and pursue the life they’ve only ever dreamed of.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Leaving a steady job and career to start a business was a risk. I left the known for the unknown, during the pandemic, without much of a plan. I just knew something had to change, and that there was more out there for me.
Looking back now, what carried me through that transition, from employee to entrepreneur, was the dream that had been bouncing around my head and heart for the past decade. The absolute certainty I had about what I was meant to be doing at this point in my life. I didn’t know the “how,” I just knew the “what,” and that was enough.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
A lot of my clients are musicians who perform around town, so they make it easy to stay in touch. I love going to see live music, and getting to connect with clients at the same time is a great perk. (Figure out what you love to do and make a career out of it.)
My strategy for fostering brand loyalty is pretty simple: I try to achieve the very best results I can for my clients, exceed their expectations, and build relationships with them grounded in authenticity, trust, mutual respect and genuine caring.
