We recently connected with Katherine NUNEZ and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Katherine, thanks for joining us today. What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your business and how did you resolve those issues?
I was known as a makeup artist in Miami Florida from 2011 to 2014 that owned KN COSMETICS AND FACE FUTURE INC. I worked in New York Fashion Week, Fashion Designers, did some work for Tiffany and Co and music videos to promote my work and market my brand. Which sadly due to bad business decisions we closed it down.
After graduation, I made the decision to start Splendore Jewelry LLC. We started working on our site, started a fan page for our launch in spring 2020 and then COVID hit and we had a bad impact in our business. Everything halted and due to the pandemic we could not have our jewelry made since our products at the time came from Thailand. I felt that I wanted to give up and that probably I wasn’t meant to be a business owner.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Since I became more in tune with the Entertainment / Fashion Industry; I decided to get into the Jewelry business and sell high quality luxury pieces with semi precious stones from Thailand.
Due to our FB book fan page and social media outlets we have been engaging with many customers that enjoy looking at our peices and even sending us questions about when we will launch our first collection. We even made a nice amount of sales during the pandemic while still working on our site. We are excited to finally launch this Fall and look forward to our new journey.
Our brand is about affordable luxury jewelry with a cause; 5% of our proceeds will go to children and women shelters of our choice.
We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process./
Manufacturing your product is the best way to go if you have a idea. I knew I wanted to create and I chose jewelry. Since I already worked with cosmetic manufactures in the past, I knew how to choose the right vendor to create my jewelry pieces. I knew that being unique was the best way as well. I found vendors/manufactures outside the U.S. to create my product. The best way to find them is researching the manufactures and sending them a email. Choose at least 3 that appeal to you. Send emails and communicate with them, ask questions and they will actually help you make the right decisions for what you may be looking for. Each have different offers, logistics and policies. It all depends on how much capital you have to invest to create your product as well.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Capital is important of course. Because of my line of work, I was able to invest some of my savings to my dream. I had the money to do so, thankfully. I also took a loan to start as well. I made a financial business plan for myself. I only invested on my first collection. Nothing crazy.
Started with one style necklace, earrings, bracelet and ring for my first collection. I did not go crazy buying or creating 5 collections for example. I took Kylie Jenners idea before she became a multi millionaire. She started with only 5 lip kits before she invested more capital to add more products to her first collection launch of cosmetics. Start small and end big is the goal.
