We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Katherine Cundiff. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Katherine below.
Alright, Katherine thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
Our breastmilk jewelry redefines the standard by eliminating tinted powders and evaporation methods. Instead, we use each client’s actual milk to color their piece naturally, ensuring a truly personal and authentic keepsake.
We are proud to introduce our resin-free breastmilk and keepsake jewelry, a seamless blend of elegance and resilience. No more worrying about taking off your treasured piece before bathing, washing dishes, swimming, or using hand sanitizer. Our innovative jewelry is designed to withstand daily life, offering superior hardness, durability, and resistance to wear and tear.
The Relic Collection is crafted without resin and boasts a glass-like hardness, making it significantly more resistant to scratches, UV exposure, heat, chemicals, and everyday use.
The future of breastmilk jewelry is here! Stronger, more durable, and made to last.

Katherine, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Kate, a wife, mother of four, and a lifelong lover of all things sentimental. My passion for preservation began with photography, capturing fleeting moments, and deepened as I embraced motherhood.
Breastfeeding my children was a profound and transformative journey, one filled with love, devotion, and sacrifice. While some moments came naturally, others were incredibly challenging. I longed for a way to honor that sacred time, to hold onto it in a form as pure as our bond. After researching jewelry processes I found that most of the creators were not using the most pure methods.
Over a decade ago, I set out to create breastmilk jewelry that was different from anything else available. I knew I didn’t want the highly pigmented powder and evaporation methods that many others used. Instead, I wanted a preservation process that remained true to the essence of my milk, something authentic, personal, and meaningful. MY milk coloring my piece and one that wouldn’t change much over time.
Since publicly launching my craft in 2014, I have poured my heart into creating keepsake jewelry and décor from deeply personal elements such as breastmilk, cremation ash, blood, hair, fur, placenta, fabric, bronzed baby booties, and more, transforming them into tangible, lasting memories.
After years of working with resin, I recognized its limitations for heirloom quality. While beautiful, resin can degrade over time. That realization led me to innovate and develop a resin-free line of jewelry, crafted to be as hard as glass and far more resistant to daily wear and yellowing. If you search the threads online, may moms complain that their pieces yellowed quickly and I wanted a way to ensure that won’t happen.
At the heart of my work is a commitment to innovation and longevity. The future of breastmilk jewelry is evolving, and I’m honored to be part of that journey by always moving forward, always creating pieces that truly last.
When you choose me to process your sacred elements, you are placing your trust in me alone. Your items are handled solely by my hands, no teams, no middlemen, ensuring the utmost care and respect throughout the entire process.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Growing my social media has been a slow and steady journey, but one I take great pride in. I’ve never relied on bots or paid for likes, every follower is real, engaged, and genuinely interested in my work. To me, that matters far more than numbers. If you check the numbers, those who have purchased likes or use bots typically don’t have the engagement to show for it. That matters.
I’ve always believed in the classic motto: “Slow and steady wins the race.” It’s never been about being the biggest brand, it’s about offering unmatched quality and craftsmanship that speaks for itself, even in a market filled with larger competitors.
I’ve built my social presence organically by running specials that encourage sharing, posting in relevant groups, and consistently creating unique content that resonates with my audience. While I’m not a pro at video editing or TikTok, I do my best to keep my viewers informed, engaged, and entertained. Also, don’t be afraid to reach out to other creators to collaborate!
Authenticity is at the heart of everything I do, both in my craft and in how I connect with my community.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I’ve faced challenges in my business journey, but every setback has been a stepping stone for growth.
When I first launched my brand, another company started around the same time. Although I was first to market, they had more legal backing, more of them thus more resources to navigate trademark disputes. While it was a stressful experience, I ultimately realized that my original brand name wasn’t a core part of my vision, it was more of a cliché and a stepping stone. In hindsight, this challenge pushed me to evolve, leading to a name with far deeper meaning. But don’t forget we also keep bees, so we will always offer milk and honey infused breastmilk jewelry too.
Mind Over Matter was born from the essence of motherhood itself. Whether it’s powering through sleepless nights, handling public tantrums, or comforting a hurting child, motherhood is the ultimate test of perseverance, Mind Over Matter. The acronym M.O.M. reflects the strength and resilience that define every mother’s journey.
Though the legal battle was difficult, it taught me invaluable lessons about business, branding, and the reality that not everyone operates with the same ethics or heart that I do. In the end, I came out stronger, with a brand identity that truly aligns with my mission. What once felt like a setback became one of the most defining moments of my growth.
