We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Katherine & Cesar Evander a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Katherine & Cesar, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
We decided to take a risk and explore the idea of creating beautiful jewelry with intentional design. We wanted our jewelry to tell stories and create new stories with its user on the adventures taken together. We went all in on Evander Jewelry and it has been a fulfilling journey from our first creation, Lovebirds, to the next story yet untold. Taking risk is a challenging journey because there is no map with directions, it becomes a journey of trial and error, however once you find your footing it becomes a rewarding experience.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Katherine and Cesar Evander are the founders of Evander Jewelry. A Miami design house focusing on creating jewelry with intentional design, beautiful stones, and adored in our champagne gold. Born and raise in Miami, the couple decided to explore the business endeavor after designing Lovebirds, a wedding band paying homage to their love story and their journey. The designs are conceptualized by Katherine and are crafted in Miami. Each creation is one of kind and limited in craft.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The greatest lesson we have learned so far is to be firm on your stance on your business. Many people with good intentions will comment on how to make designs and how to manage your business. The hard part is the realization that you will not be able to please everyone so it is best to please yourself with your design and your artistry.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
There is no such thing as an easy business, each business takes hard work and time to plan. The resilience comes from being able to make mistakes and quickly learn from them and grow. Every business have a learning curve that has to be overcome but being able to quickly flatten the learning curve by learning from mistakes, making connections with other business owner, and consuming media related to your business helps you become a resilient business owner.
