Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Katherin Rinaldi Fanaian. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Katherin Rinaldi, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I seek to empower families in the process of pregnancy, birth and beyond. It is my goal to help mothers learn to trust in their beautiful, strong bodies and to trust in birth. The moment that a baby is born is joyous, magical, and wondrous, and it is my wish for mothers and their partners to experience the birth of their babies as fully as possible.
It is always an honor to have the opportunity to be present at a birth. I work to support in birth awareness, where clients feel confident, informed, and surrounded with care, love and respect.
Katherin Rinaldi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As a doula I adapt to the family’s birth preferences or wishes while also guiding them with information, emotional and physical support wether they give birth at home, hospital or birth center. We meet up twice during the pregnancy to go over comfort measures (like relaxation, visualization, breathing, positions for labor and delivery), expectations and concerns. I strive to empower the clients through ongoing reassurance (I am available via text/call during the duration of the pregnancy) and on call for the family when ‘due date’ is eminent.
There are multiple research based benefits to hiring a doula and among them: women who use a birth doula are less likely to need pitocin, less likely to have a c-section, less likely to use pain meds, more likely to rate their birth experience positively! I love being a mother, see the role of the mother as pivotal for the growth and development of future generations, so as a result, I also love SUPPORTING mothers through my doula services.
I love and live by this quote from the Baha’i Writings since I am a mother myself “For mothers are the first educators, the first mentors; and truly it is he mothers who determine the happiness, the future greatness, the courteous ways and learning and judgement, the understanding and the faith of their little ones.”
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
There is nothing more rewarding than being referred and recommended by clients to others! Word of mouth marketing is such a powerful tool for growing clientele and I am very happy for repeat clients and clients who tell others about the services I provide.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
As a doula, and a mother I also have to balance the ‘on call’ part by relying on my husband and community of friends for support with my daughters if I happen to go to a birth when they need to be picked up from school etc. Being a doula is a selfless service, truly done with love, one where I gauge what’s needed in the moment by being present to the mother’s emotional and physical state, trusting my intuition and empowering her and her partner to to the same.
