Hi Katharine, thanks for joining us today. What was your school or training experience like? Share an anecdote or two that you feel illustrate important aspects or the overall nature of your schooling/training experience.

I remember when I first got started in this work, I second guessed myself all the time. I wondered if I was doing it right. What I know now and what I have found over time is that it is not about getting it right. I mean we are trying to get it “right” according to whom? I have found when I can let go of all the projections or expectations that others have of what my business should look like, that I open a door to what is different about me and my business. It creates something new and unique. I create a target with my business and when I miss the target I know I am one step closer to hitting the target next time and I just try again. I never give up. If I kept going down the road of getting it right, I would have never discovered the difference I can be in business. Now I know I came here to be a different kind of business and pave the way for others in the industry. So many of us are taught that our business “should” look a certain way or we “should” follow a particular proven path, but what about what you uniquely know? What else is possible?

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I believe everyone deserves to live a life full of joy, abundance, and balance. In 2017, Bright Life emerged to promote healing with personal development tools and stress relief techniques using the modalities of Reiki, Access Consciousness, Meditation, and Essential Oils. I enjoy working with clients from all paths of life. I have always had a gift of being able to meet people wherever they are on their path and nurture their ability to heal and create balance. I definitely have had my hardships in this life and using these modalities has created lasting change with ease. The change was so life shifting for me, I poured myself into learning all I could to expand my knowledge and contribute to others who may benefit. Now Bright Life offers sessions and certification classes so that these amazing modalities can continue to ripple out to more people seeking relaxation and change.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

Stop being in conclusion. Something I have learned in my training is that we are powerful creators. Whatever is showing up in my life I know I have created with my points of view. If I believe I have to work hard or I have bought that point of view, then that is what I will subconsciously create as my life. When things are not going as I desire and I am seeking to shift the energy or the direction of my life, I know now that I need to ask a question. Anywhere I am in conclusion I have already decided how something will be or what it will look like or show up as. When I ask a question I am open to all the possibilities. For example in business, if I am looking at business slowing down and I go into conclusion I would think. “No one is interested in this now.” If I am in question, I would ask “what would it take to create more invitation with my business?” Conclusion stops the possibilities. Anytime I notice I am in conclusion, I stop and ask a question.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

Probably honoring people and treating them with respect and kindness. A majority of my clients refer their friends and family. I honor their time and frequently put myself in the clients shoes to look at the experience I would like to have and then I deliver that. The deepest change comes from creating a space where a client feels like they can let their walls and barriers down and just be themselves. To me it is important to create a space of non judgement and support. People can feel that difference and that is the invitation for the business to grow.
