Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Katelynn Liedtke. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Katelynn, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?

I currently do my own social media. I think there is a time and a place to hire professionals, but just starting out I think it is important to figure out what you out of your social media pages and to build a relationship with your community. Not only just it help keeps costs low when you’re starting out, but it’s much more personable as well.

Katelynn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Katelynn Liedtke, and I have a photography business called Katie Marie Digital. I am also currently a student at MTSU majoring in Journalism with a focus in Sports Media. I have been taking photos since I was in middle school and I am now about to be 28 this year. I enjoy taking photos of all sorts of things, but I primarily enjoy portrait and sports photography. I love meeting new people and building a connection with clients while capturing some of their best memories or accomplishments. I am proud of how far I’ve come and how much I have improved, especially in the last few years.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

The most effective way I have found to build clientele is simply by word of mouth. If you do a good job and give clients a good customer experience, they will refer other people to you and that goes way further than any social media ad.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

Networking for sure. If people don’t know you and the service you offer, how are they ever going to call you? Getting out places and talking to people is the best way to sell yourself.
