We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Katelyn Klepack. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Katelyn below.
Alright, Katelyn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?
As a full time content creator, social media is my entire business. I am a one woman show, so all of the strategy, brainstorming, content creation, editing, posting, sharing across platforms and engagement is all me. Consistency and authenticity are the 2 main contributing factors to building a following. Being yourself, and relatable as well as posting daily are incredibly important.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Katelyn and I am a wife and mother of two. In 2020, we decided to build our dream home, right in the thick of a global pandemic. I took a chance and began sharing our entire build journey on Instagram. I realized very quickly that so many others were in the same position. I spent nearly 2.5 years documenting the ups and downs of our build, and commiserating and celebrating with others that I had “met” through Instagram. We completed our build in 2022 and my content shifted to more home and lifestyle. I share home and holiday decor, recipes, some DIY and just a lot of every day life.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Braxwood Interiors is definitely not one of those accounts that grew by thousands over night. My growth has been slow but pretty consistent. Posting helpful, relevant, and attention getting content consistently is the only way to really grow organically. Sure a viral video or 2 will increase your follower count, but from experience those aren’t engaged followers and that’s not great for your engagement overall.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
There are platforms and resources that help connect creators and brands for collaborations. You don’t have to spend hours blindly emailing business for collaborations. FYPM is a great resource, as well as Cohley, #paid and Aspire are all great ways to find paid opportunities.
