Katelyn Annemarie, appreciate you joining us today. Crazy stuff happening is almost as certain as death and taxes – it’s technically “unexpected” but something unexpected happening is to be expected and so can you share a crazy story with our readers
Back in the fall of 2016, I was teaching private yoga to individuals with disabilities and freelancing as a marketer and…. feeling like something was missing. I told a health coach who worked at the wellness center I ran my private practice out of and marketed for and she said, “You need to hire my life coach, she will change your life!” Up until that point, I had no idea what coaching was. From that point on though, I fell in love with the industry. In May of 2018 I launched my coaching business where I helped early stage entrepreneurs uncover their purpose and organize a product/offering suite. I was embodying all of my gifts: marketing, coaching, mindset, yoga, Ayurveda… and I felt so fulfilled that I thought, “This is it! I’ll never do anything else! This is the rest of my life!” Within the year I crushed all the goals that I thought would take 5 years to accomplish… the business was generating 5-figures a month, we hosted an international retreat, hired our first employee, and got featured on podcast and in magazines.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I help service-based business owners embody the highest expression of their unique leadership style, amplify their magnetism, increase their income and impact. I’ve helped entrepreneurs go from 2k months to $200k+ years. My work infuses the science of Ayurveda, nervous system re-wiring and re-calibration, and digital marketing strategies to help leaders develop businesses attract and support their soul-aligned clients. I got into this work after years of feeling split in two – running my private yoga practice and marketing for numerous businesses. I discovered that my colleagues who struggled to build their yoga businesses were missing the opportunity to help more people simply because they didn’t have the knowledge of how to price their offers and market their services. Simultaneously, I was designing marketing strategies for CEO’s who were burnt out and hitting their upper limit. Coaching was a way that I could help both of these visionary leaders overcome the obstacles that held them back.
I lead an online business school, offer private coaching, host in-person VIP days and retreats, and in 2022, I opened the doors to my second business, Nurtured Marketing to provide DFY (done for you) digital marketing solutions for holistic businesses, coaches and healers that want to focus less on their marketing and more on doing the work they came to this earth to do.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When I started my coaching business, I had a little over a thousand followers. Most of which were friends and family and some people from high school that loved to lurk (I’m sure you know the type). It felt hard for me to reveal this new identity to this audience. I worried I would be judged and worse, I worried it would make me want to quit. So, I focused on healing my fear of being seen, first. I used my tools that I teach clients to use – meditation, EFT, somatics… and then I asked myself, “who would I love to see me?” I got clear on who I wanted to work with (spiritual entrepreneurs) and who I wanted to collaborate with, and I did two things. One, I focused on the frequency of these people and how it felt to connect with them in meditation. Two, I used hashtags and SEO to find them online and I began connecting with spiritual entrepreneurs all over the world. My platform grew from about 1,200 to 3,000 within a few months. Then to 5,000 by the second year and now is at about 7,500 on Instagram and my Facebook has over 4,000 like-minded humans in my sphere. I’m really happy with the community I have on social media and I understand that for a business, your network often equates to your networth. In 2022, I launched a second business that applies similar strategies to client’s accounts to help them grow their online audience and we’ve seen how that combined with a strategy to warm and convert their audience has helped them increase revenue drastically.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I stated earlier that when I began coaching I went all in and for years I believed that this business was my entire future. Last year, I came into recognition that it’s not my entire future, it’s one wonderful piece. As a projector in Human Design, I needed to unlearn what many HD experts teach for Projectors which is to “focus on one thing.” I’m a visionary. I needed to unlearn the constrictive narrative that was boxing in my creative endeavors. When I did, I was able to listen to my intuition and accept the guidance that was channeling through me. I stepped into the visionary identity more and launched a second business, unlearned all of the ways I felt I needed to be hyper-independent and stopped working IN my businesses so that I could work ON my businesses. I launched a marketing agency that’s projected to surpass 6-figures in revenue within its first year and the only reason I’ve been able to run two businesses at once is because I learned to let go, follow the intuitive nudge, delegate, hire help, and go bigger than I had ever imagined.
