We recently connected with Kate Thurman and have shared our conversation below.
KATE, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Any thoughts about whether to ask friends and family to support your business. What’s okay in your view?
I’ve had a hard time asking friends and family for support because I haven’t received much help from anyone in the past, which has conditioned me to find other ways, like working overtime, before asking for assistance. I draw the line when I finally ask for help and it feels like I’m not supported; I’d rather do things on my own after praying. That’s just my story—I’ve always had to fight for what I wanted and needed, often feeling alone in certain aspects of my life. It felt like it was me against the world, especially when my house burned down and my whole family had to live in a hotel, and no one helped. We drained our accounts just to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table, and this experience is one of the reasons I wanted to start a nonprofit. Lately, I’ve seen more support from our family.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Kate Thurman, and I carry many roles and responsibilities in my life, each one deeply meaningful to me. I’m a devoted wife and mother, and alongside my husband, Christopher Thurman, I co-founded the non-profit organization, Angelically Blessed Inc., as well as our TV channel, Graceful Gatherings with the Thurmans, where I also have the joy of hosting. In addition, I host The Kate Thurman Show, a platform where I share and explore real-life experiences, bringing faith-centered and uplifting messages to our viewers.
As CEO of Faith Safe Haven Women’s Ministry, co-owner of CKT Logistics, and creator of Walking In My Divine Purpose, I’ve worked to build a legacy of faith and service. I’m an international best-selling author, media personality, producer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, committed to making a positive impact in my community.

Conversations about M&A are often focused on multibillion dollar transactions – but M&A can be an important part of a small or medium business owner’s journey. We’d love to hear about your experience with selling businesses.
I have never sold a business. However, I did own my own daycare for over 11 years. I closed that business to focus on my family at the time. One lesson I had to learn from having to close the daycare is understanding the value of support and not giving up too early.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
The story where I met the cofounder of Angelically Blessed Inc is 28 years ago I met my now husband who is the cofounder and we now connect with a valuable lesson in life. Giving back and doing it as a business is awesome and rewarding
