Alright, Kate thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. The first dollar you earn in a new endeavor is always special. We’d love to hear about how you got your first client that wasn’t a friend or family.
When I first started my business, I struggled to figure out how to use my expertise and create offers. I spent a lot of time consuming information and comparing myself to others, which kept me stuck in analysis paralysis. I finally got fed up, stopped consuming content that made me feel lacking, and focused on my personal development. By showing up daily on Instagram and talking about what I knew and loved, I was able to figure out my personal style and vibe, which illuminated my brand. My first client found me on Instagram and asked for my help in bringing her personality into her online brand. It was then that I realized I could make money just by being myself and helping others solve their problems. I started with $100 sessions and had no boundaries, but I was finally in alignment with what I was good at. It’s important to remember that what comes easy to us may not come easy to others, and that is our value. Find your zone of genius and lean into it.

My name is Kate Obert, and I am a branding and style expert. I work with entrepreneurs and companies to help them discover their authentic brand, elevate their personal style, and increase their visibility through cohesive branding and marketing strategies.
My journey in this industry began as a fashion stylist in Los Angeles, where I had the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients. I quickly realized that the way we present ourselves to the world is a reflection of who we are and what we stand for. This led me to start my own business, where I could help people align their personal style with their brand and create a cohesive and authentic image.
I offer a variety of services, including 1:1 coaching, consulting for companies, and a product called NECESSARY, which is a course designed to help people curate their personal brand and elevate their style. Through my coaching and consulting, I help my clients identify their unique strengths and values and create a strategy to position them as an expert in their industry. My clients have seen an increase in visibility, engagement, and sales by implementing the strategies we develop together.
What sets me apart from others in this industry is my holistic approach to branding and style. I believe that everything is connected and that your personal style, your living space, and your brand should all reflect who you are authentically. I also bring a unique perspective to my work, having worked both in the fashion industry and in corporate advertising. I understand the importance of balancing creativity and strategy in building a successful brand.
I am most proud of the transformations I have seen in my clients. It is incredibly rewarding to help someone step into their authentic self and watch their business thrive as a result. I am also proud of the community I have built through my work. My clients become part of a supportive and empowering network, which is something I value deeply.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My creative journey is driven by a clear mission: to help people create a vibe that is authentic, confident, and magnetic. As a personal branding expert, I believe that everyone has a unique style and personality that should be reflected in their fashion choices, living space, and overall branding. By tapping into their strengths and understanding their vibe, I help my clients curate a cohesive and authentic brand that truly reflects who they are. My goal is to empower people to embrace their individuality and use it as a tool to achieve their goals and create the life they desire. I truly believe that when you are aligned with your authentic self, everything falls into place. This mission is what drives me every day in my creative journey.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I first started my business, I created, beta tested and tried selling a course, but no one bought it. I soon realized that I didn’t have much social proof, and that I didn’t truly understand what my audience wanted. After some reflection, I decided to pivot and began working with clients 1:1, which allowed me to develop and refine my frameworks. After two years of working in this way, I knew that I wanted to reach more people, but I couldn’t do it through 1:1 consulting alone. So, I pivoted once again and took a break from my business to build my current program, NECESSARY. This time, I was more prepared. I hired a team of experts to help me refine my vision, and I made sure that the program was of the highest quality. I’ve learned that it’s important to listen to my intuition and my energy when making these pivots, and to trust that everything I’ve learned along the way will inform my next steps. In the end, it’s about being adaptable and willing to pivot when necessary, while staying true to your vision and your values.
