Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kate Joyes. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kate, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Originally from England London, living in scottsdale Arizona for 9 years before starting the business. It had always been a dream of mine to start my own business wether it was big or small just something I always had a passion for. Having my business and management degree was also a bonus and spurred me on more..
I saw a niche in the market here in scottsdale and thought this would be a great idea to start 4ft light up illuminated letters. This hasn’t been introduced here and I will be the first!
The idea came from England when I went back one year and saw these at an event. I set out with a desire to introduce and launch to the Arizona area.
I saw the growing demand for large 4ft illuminated marquee letters seeing how big the event industry is here and thought a unique product like this would be a great touch to WOW guest and light up an event.
I began by building my first set which was LOVE primarily for weddings and the rest is history!


Kate, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was born and raised in the south of England about 1 hour from London. Moved to Arizona when I was 22 I have now been here 14 years.
After moving here I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do but it was always a dream of mine to run my own business. After graduating with a business and management degree in England I saw the use for this when I had the idea to introduce a product 4ft light up marquee letters to Arizona. I have never been that good at design or building but always had a passion to follow my dreams and an idea that I knew could work. I decided to start by building LOVE with the help of my partner. The design went well and LOVE was ready to go out.
I believe what sets us apart from any one is we hand build every letter. The quality that goes into each one sets us apart from others. We use the best materials and make each letter with a lot of care.
We value our customers and only want the best. I believe in word of mouth and a lot of business has come from that. We have some amazing repeat customers that always come back for their events and that means so much.
One of the biggest things I love about my job is meeting and building new relationships with others.
Our reviews are always 5 star and this has come from the quality of the product and the way they are delivered, set up and communication along the way.



What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Building a reputation is based on how you deliver yourself, product and a business as a whole. Clients are paying for the product they want every step of the way to run smoothly. One thing that has always helped me being a business owner.
Treat others how you want to be treated.
Building a good reputation will always help bring back existing and new clients. Word of mouth has always been the best thing for me. I don’t believe personally in spending tons of money on advertising and marketing. I believe in my product and deliver only the best this is then follows to good reviews, ratings, social media mentions.
Always finding a solution for the client not giving up. If a client isn’t happy then make it better. Whatever it maybe to a refund, partial refund, another product.
