We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kate Donovan. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kate below.
Kate, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I started my coaching business because I spent a lot of years feeling LOST in life, and I didn’t know what to do about it! I love being a wife and momma, but it felt like something was MISSING. I struggled when I realized that being a full-time stay-at-home mom wasn’t for me, and wanted to find another layer of purpose in my life, and something new to work towards.
I spent so long feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and directionless. So, I started journaling. Writing is how I process, so I began asking myself different questions and adopted a mindset of experimentation (instead of perfectionism).
It took me YEARS of self-discovery, teaching myself goal setting & mindset work, and a TON of google searches to uncover what chasing wonderment looked like in my own life. There were plenty of life coaches out there, sure — but I couldn’t find any within my price range, so I was on my own.
I began sharing what I was learning on my blog, and when I started getting emails and having friends call me and ask questions, I realized that I could help them discover & clarify their direction in life! I knew that God had brought me full circle to find another piece of my life’s purpose.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a life coach for women who want to live life to the fullest!
Through coaching clients (and in my own life!) I’ve noticed that it’s really easy to lose your direction in life. As women, we often find ourselves making sure that everyone around us is happy, fed, and taken care of. And, while pouring into other humans is incredible, it’s easy to lose sight of what matters to us. My clients often struggle with feel guilty, people pleasing, feeling stressed out and overwhelmed — as well as feeling like there’s something missing, and lacking a sense of purpose.
I’m so grateful to be able to encourage and inspire clients to start chasing wonderment!
My coaching doesn’t include a “perfect method” like you might see promoted online or in self-help books. Instead, I guide clients through a process that helps them uncover their OWN methods for creating their dream life.
I’m also passionate about having quality coaching & support, while keeping my pricing affordable. A lot of my clients are one income families, or just living on a tight budget due to normal life circumstances. My heart is to support women who are ready to grow — no matter what their budget is.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the biggest lessons I had to learn was to STOP looking for the “perfect method.” I constantly was looking for the “ANSWER” to whatever problem I was struggling with — from organizing my home, sticking to a schedule, or how to post on social media.
Finally, I realized… There isn’t a perfect method. There’s only the methods that work for me! And that mindset shift changed everything.
It allowed me to adopt a mindset of experimentation, and to let go of perfectionism. It allowed me to see failure as a tool for growth, and that helped me stop beating myself up inwardly every time I tried something that didn’t work.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Before I started coaching, I actually had a product-based business! The shift from products to services was a MASSIVE pivot in my life. And, I’m not gonna lie — I was pretty stubborn about it.
I had unknowingly fallen in love with coaching years ago by offering a free challenge to my blog subscribers. The outpouring of responses to that challenge was amazing, and I was LIT UP by the work of encouraging and helping these women. But I did NOT want to be a coach.
I fought it for about 4 or 5 years, but eventually my love for encouraging people trumped my stubbornness surrounding coaching. I had a lot of mindset work surrounding the pivot, but I have never regretted the moment I finally took a leap of faith and went for coaching full-time!
