We were lucky to catch up with Kate Dipinto recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kate, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The Idea Behind Glamour Management
The idea for Glamour Management was born from a blend of personal transformation and professional evolution. After spending several years in the hospitality industry, particularly in fine dining, I hit a turning point when I made the life-changing decision to get sober. This pivotal moment not only altered my personal trajectory but also sparked a change in my career path, leading me into the world of beauty—a field I quickly fell in love with.
I began working in bridal hair and makeup coordination, and within a short period, I was promoted. Over the next two years, I realized that this role was more than just a job; it was a calling. As an artist myself, I found immense satisfaction in collaborating with other creatives, ensuring that their work was not only showcased in the best possible light but also that the clients received an unparalleled experience. So with this in mind I left my job and started my own company, done my way.
Identifying the Gap
While coordinating, I noticed a significant gap in the market: hair stylists and makeup artists often struggled with managing a large volume of bookings, especially in a high-pressure environment like weddings and events. These artists are incredibly talented, but they needed someone to handle the business side of things, to be the liaison between them and their clients, ensuring that the entire process was seamless, organized, and most importantly, personalized.
The Passion and Logic
This realization ignited a passion in me to fill that gap. I knew this was a worthwhile endeavor because I had experienced firsthand the challenges artists face in maintaining both their creative integrity and business operations. The logic was clear: by providing managerial representation, I could allow these artists to focus on what they do best—creating beauty—while I handled the logistics and client relations.
A Unique Approach
What makes Glamour Management unique is our approach. We don’t follow the typical bridal outline. Instead, we focus on inspiration, letting the artists’ work speak for itself. I’m also a big proponent of guerrilla marketing—an approach that excites me because it’s different, artistic, and evocative. This method not only sets us apart in the market but also resonates deeply with our clients who are looking for something beyond the ordinary.
Looking Ahead
This is more than just a business for me; it’s a lifelong passion. I’ve created a niche for myself in a vast and competitive market, and I’m incredibly excited about the future. I see myself growing Glamour Management for the rest of my professional career, continually innovating and providing unparalleled experiences for both the artists and the clients we serve.
Kate, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Kate DiPinto, and I’m the owner and coordinator behind Glamour Management. After spending years in the hospitality industry, particularly in fine dining, I made a significant career shift into the beauty industry. This change came after a pivotal moment in my life—achieving sobriety—which inspired me to pursue something that truly aligned with my passions. Being sober really helps drive the force behind me showing up for not only myself but the clients and artists too.
I started in the beauty industry as a coordinator for bridal hair and makeup services. It didn’t take long before I was promoted to a leadership role, where I spent two years managing and organizing glamour services for weddings and special events. During this time, I discovered a deep passion for working with creative professionals and ensuring that clients had an impeccable experience on their big day.
What sets Glamour Management apart is our unique approach to managing hair stylists and makeup artists. I noticed that while these artists are incredibly talented, they often struggled with the business side of things, especially when dealing with large volumes of bookings. That’s where Glamour Management steps in—we take care of the logistics, allowing the artists to focus on what they do best: creating beautiful looks for our clients.
We specialize in coordinating glamour services for weddings, events, and photoshoots. Our goal is to provide a seamless experience for our clients, from the initial consultation to the final touches on the big day. We focus on personalization, ensuring that each look is tailored to the individual’s style and preferences. But beyond just providing a service, we strive to create an artistic experience that leaves a lasting impression.
What I’m most proud of is the way we’ve been able to build a strong, supportive community of artists who feel valued and empowered to do their best work. I’m also incredibly proud of the relationships we’ve formed with our clients, who trust us to be a part of some of the most important moments in their lives.
For anyone considering working with Glamour Management, I want you to know that we’re more than just a service provider—we’re a partner in making your special day as perfect as possible. We bring creativity, dedication, and a personal touch to everything we do, and we’re committed to delivering a flawless experience every time.
At the end of the day, Glamour Management isn’t just about hair and makeup; it’s about helping people feel their absolute best on the most important days of their lives. And that’s something I’m incredibly passionate about and committed to doing for the rest of my career.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
I prioritize maintaining high team morale by being compassionate and truly listening to my artists. Each one has their own unique needs, and I make it a point to treat them as individuals. I stay in regular contact with everyone—it’s noticeable if I haven’t checked in within a couple of days. Having experienced unsupportive management myself, I know how important it is for people to feel like their boss cares and listens. At Glamour Management, I’ve made it my mission to ensure that everyone has a place and feels heard.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Glamour Management’s reputation has really been built on our true attention to customer experience. Even though we’re still new, clients have been referring others and leaving great reviews because of the exceptional time they’ve had with us—from the initial inquiry to the final hair and makeup look. Our artists are not only incredibly talented but also personable and genuinely care about each client. A lot of what we do involves emotional experiences, like wedding day glamour, and we go out of our way to make sure it’s truly memorable.
