We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kate Castro. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kate below.

Kate, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the toughest things about progressing in your creative career is that there are almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?

Within the last year and a half, I was diagnosed with cancer. It was a complete surprise that catapulted surgeries and chemotherapy treatments for months. I decided right away that I was going to approach everyday with positivity no matter how I felt. My mindset got me through the darkest and most painful days of my life. I am grateful that I am very healthy, mind, body, and soul today! Sharing my story and perspective I believe, is a responsibility I have to help others through tough times.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am a singer, and songwriter first as music has always been an intrecal part of my life. People can listen to my music on many platforms including youtube, Spotify, Soundcloud, Apple, and others. Music helped me through trauma of surgeries and times where side affects of medications were kicked in full gear.
Being able to come out of cancer on top with a mindset eager for life, sharing my story becomes more important everyday. Several people ask for my help to get them through trauma and/or difficult times and I am honored to be looked at in a way forward. Because people need to know that they are powerful and are able to take hard situations on, I want to share my views with more people which is what started my public speaking career. I HELP INDIVIDUALS AND AUDIENCES TURN UNCERTAINTY INTO POSSIBILITY.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

Going through cancer not only proved how resilient we as humans can be, it stripped away so many external things that don’t really matter. We give so much attention to people and things that do not help us excel in this world. Excelling as a good person, parent, entrepreneur…We are more powerful in our own minds and thoughts. Giving our energy to outer sources is a waste of time when we can go within and feel strong. Feeling our own pain, past pain from childhood or anything, and dealing with it in a healthy way is extremely powerful and healing.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

SenseK8 is my brand and with this I want to help others shine their own light. When we greet life an an adventure and embrace uncertainty, our lives can be tremendously better. I’m speaking from experience. I’m singing from experience as well. Through music and public speaking I’ll share a message to help others.
