Kat, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My Mom was given the opportunity for an International Assignment. She had never left the USA (other than a Mexico trip or two) – and she took 2 BIG suitcases and headed to Switzerland. My brother, Dad & myself quickly headed over to meet her – and our lives were forever changed.
Taking that type of risk wasn’t easy for her or for our family. It was scary. It was unfamiliar. We lived in a Studio Apartment for that summer. We all learned a lot about one another and ourselves at the same time. That opportunity changed my life.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We got off of the overnight train in Rome after (not) sleeping the whole way down from Switzerland. We were exhausted. We got into our hotel, and the Front Desk sat my Dad down to ask him what he was planning for our family. My Dad handed the list of all the things. They immediately said, “If you do this, you will hate our city. We will plan your trip”.
My Dad let them. They got us tours for the Vatican Museum & the Fourm/Coloseum. They got us tickets for Borghese. They gave us a map with the best gelato.
I loved Rome. Rome is my favorite city to this day. I have been a dozen times.
That trip is why I want to help families and people travel. To think of travel differently. We were given the chance when I was young to experience travel. I have had plenty of opportunities to “mess up” a trip. But not everyone has that chance. Their trip with their family may be once in a lifetime. It’s an investment of time and finance. My goal is to help clients have my trip to Rome every single time. To have these unique experiences. To plan their day RIGHT. To not travel like my Dad. ( love you Dad )
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
My current clients & their word of mouth. When it comes to a service being provided, we want to know that someone we know and trust has our back. We get that recommendation from a friend or family member. No one loves being “sold to”. We feel like there’s someone taking advantage of us. But if a friend tells us that it’s “safe”, we are willing to take a chance.
So when it comes to my best new clients, they come from clients that I love to work with.
How did you build your audience on social media?
When it comes to socials, be authentically you. No one wants the “filtered” version. We want to know when things go wrong, when you go wrong, when you solve problems. Be there to share information – not to “sell” to me.
Also, do NOT have the same information on all platforms. There are different types of people on each platform. What your TikTok follower wants to see isn’t what your LinkedIn professional wants to see. Make sure you redefine the message for the group you are speaking to.
