Hi Scarlett, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.

My mother has been instrumental in broadening our perspectives by introducing my brother and me to unconventional lifestyles and innovative modes of thinking regarding societal structures. Her boundless imagination and visionary spirit have consistently inspired us to consider alternative paths and possibilities. Throughout my upbringing, she has been a catalyst for pushing me to pursue my passions fervently, while consistently guiding me towards uncharted territories of exploration. Her unique ability to connect disparate ideas has undoubtedly played a pivotal role in shaping my creative mindset. Without her influence, I believe I would not possess the same level of ingenuity and openness to novel concepts.

My name is Scarlett. I’m a multi hyphniate creative currently based in Miami, Florida. In my artistic journey, I stand as a dynamic force, embracing a rich tapestry of identities—queer, black, and non-binary. My creative expression traverses diverse realms, encompassing photography, jewelry design, and styling. I weave a unique thread that binds these forms together with vibrant hues, a celebration of gender fluidity, and a resolute nonconformist ethos.

Within the captivating world I craft through my lens, photography transcends mere documentation; it becomes a vessel for capturing the essence of fellow creatives and the pulsating energy of dynamic spaces. These snapshots embody freedom, where authenticity thrives, beckoning viewers to immerse themselves in a visual landscape of liberation. My journey into photography began at a tender age, where my fascination with capturing moments blossomed. This passion endured, guiding me to pursue a degree in the medium. Throughout my college years, I found myself immersed in the captivating realm of the darkroom, where my love for photography truly solidified. My photography services encompass a diverse range of offerings, including capturing festivals and events, providing unit stills and behind-the-scenes photography, curating lifestyle and campaign imagery for brands and content creators, and creating captivating portrait photography.

In 2021, amidst the tumult of the pandemic, I discovered solace and inspiration in the art of jewelry making. This newfound endeavor not only nurtured my creative spirit but also resonated deeply with my introverted nature. As I delved into crafting unique pieces, I realized the potential to offer visually striking products that stood apart from the ordinary. Thus, I embarked on a journey of sharing my creations with others, establishing a brand rooted in authenticity and sustainability. Each meticulously crafted piece represents a one-of-a-kind creation, reflecting the ethos of individuality that underscores the brand. In a world where our uniqueness can often be overlooked, my aim is to remind each customer of their singular significance, ensuring they feel truly valued and cherished. Our jewelry brand specializes in offering a wide selection of custom pre-made and made-to-order necklaces, bracelets, branded merch and hats.

Exploring the realm of styling has been a recent journey for me, one that began about a year and a half ago. Throughout my life, people have been drawn to my sense of style, and it’s a facet of myself that I’ve always held in high regard. I believe that cultivating a strong personal style can significantly influence how we interact with the world, particularly in creative fields. My aspiration is to leverage this innate talent to assist others in expressing their authentic selves with utmost uniqueness and confidence, staying true to their individual identities. Within my styling services, I offer comprehensive style consulting, closet curation, personalized shopping experiences, as well as expert styling for campaigns, photoshoots, television, and film productions.

What distinguishes me from others is my distinctive vision, my multidisciplinary approach to creation, and my aspirations to utilize my work and resources as a catalyst for nurturing the growth and fulfillment of fellow creatives, aiding them in achieving their aspirations.

I take immense pride in the resilience I’ve shown by refusing to let life’s challenges extinguish my relentless pursuit of creative endeavors.

I am deeply dedicated to leveraging my voice to amplify those who feel unheard or marginalized. Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?

One of the challenges that non-creatives often struggle to comprehend is the innate nature of creativity ingrained in individuals from birth. Creativity isn’t merely a skill or hobby that can be discarded at will; it’s an intrinsic part of who we are. Despite societal pressures and the demands of a constantly escalating cost of living, many creatives find it impossible to ignore this fundamental aspect of their being. The urge to create isn’t just a passing whim; for many, it’s a vital need that, when left unattended, can significantly impact their well-being.

For creatives, the desire to make a livelihood from their talents isn’t solely about financial stability; it’s about fulfilling a deep-seated calling and living authentically. This drive propels them towards becoming more well-rounded individuals who remain true to themselves and their artistic vision. Pursuing a creative path isn’t merely a career choice; it’s a commitment to living one’s truth, embracing authenticity, and leaving a meaningful impact on the world around them.
