Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kassi Moore. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Kassi, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
For me I believe in order to be successful you have to experience failure. Failure is not the end but only the beginning. Every experience comes with trying something new and a learning experience to evolve and become better. I was hesitant to leave my medical career of 20 years to chase my dreams of starting a bakery because I was afraid of failing. We only live one life and the fear of failure should not stop us from pursuing something amazing! Facing those fears, failing, picking yourself back up and trying again is a huge success in my book.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have worked in the medical field for 20 years, but have always had a love for baking and sweet things. One day I decided why not. So I started my Cottage Food Bakery, Sugar Invasion. I love to create and bake so I offer a variety of custom cakes, decorated cookies, gourmet cookies, brownies, cupcakes, and more! Located in South Forth Worth Texas I serve the DFW area and have had the pleasure of making some super fun cakes and treats for my clients. One thing that sets me apart is I offer delivery services to make it easier for my clients so there is one less thing they have to worry about. I am super proud to create a unique brand formed from my love of Sci-fi and sugar, hence the name Sugar Invasion was born. Since starting it has been a whirlwind and I am very thankful for the amazing clients I have worked with so far. There will be more amazing things and growth in the next year and I am super excited to see where this journey takes me next.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Starting out I wanted to take things slow. I kept my full time job as a Nurse and utilized that income to purchase equipment, branding items, baking supplies, and many decorating tools. I was able to slowly invest in myself and as buisness began to grow I started to go down on my time as a nurse. I did this for about a year. Then about 2 weeks ago I made the final decision to go head first into my bakery and quit my job as a nurse.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Timely and effective communication plays a huge roll in a positive reputation. Communication is key in any relationship and I want my clients to feel heard and taken care of.
